I was also racing myself in the national sprint champs in two provinces and Hazelwood Olympic distance the week after in Sligo.
These were my main two races for the season, they were two races that had me really motivated in training, after my last race in Cavan at the start of June I was really motivated to perform well in these races, the things i focused on which I personally needed to was better sleep, more sleep and being more consistent week to week, I didn’t do anything different training wise but just a little bit more consistent and more recovery (who’d have thought) but after 14 years in this sport those were probably my two best performance’s, and while I’ll always look for ways I could have done better in races or moments I could have done cuz I can say I was pretty happy with those two performances and couldn’t have asked any more of myself on the days, it’s important to take time sometimes and appreciate what you’ve done relative to yourself, your circumstances, your goals etc.
National sprint champs - 12th overall in 1:03:30 and 3rd in Age group, in a race where the top 50 where all sub 1:10, National champs AG podium goal ✅
Hazelwood Olympic 2:10:33, 3rd overall and there’s alway a first for everything because I ran myself into the podium from 4th to 3rd in the last 1km, and had the 3rd fastest run of the day 🤷♂️
Shoutout to ryanlundy storming the course at Hazelwood too taking the win! 💪
