EJX2 athlete race reports! πŸŠπŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

This past weekend we had Atheltes in Athy and Cavan!

Sean McCarron took on the Athy100, his first taste of longer distance racing and only his second triathlon and absolutely smashed it πŸ’ͺ solid from start to finish, race nutrition and strategy nailed and most importantly plenty of experience gained for the full distance coming up soon! Well done boss! 5hrs 25 mins πŸ’ͺ

Lucy Mc Dermott and Noelle Lynch were also in Athy for the Olympic distance, unfortunately the bike was shorted to 20km, but the two girls still smashed it!

Noelle had a super race and gained more experience stepping up the distance towards a 70.3 later in the year. πŸ‘

Lucy had a great race and secured a super 3rd place in her AG as she kicks off her season, well done Lucy! πŸ‘

At the James Mc Manus sprint in Cavan 5 of the lads and myself toed the line in a stacked field of top athletes to race it out in the lashing rain, hard to whack!
colinmc had a super race with a PB of 1:06:11, and picked up 9th overall and 2nd in his AG πŸ’ͺ

Conan Murray had another solid race for his 3rd race in as many weeks with a 1:10:15, 17th overall and 3rd in his AG. πŸ’ͺ
77 came in 1:12:14 and 21st overall, just missing the AG podium finishing 4th πŸ’ͺ

Jam Mc Connell came in 1:13:01 24th overall and also just missing the AG podium with 4th πŸ’ͺ

Rory came in 1:16:32 at 36th overall and 5th in his AG πŸ’ͺ

4th place overall for myself and 1st in AG, 1:02:29, just off the podium but great to be in a battle with keeping each other honest to the line, great racing from the front 3 lads and delighted for fellow .triathlonclub lad to get the W πŸ†

Thanks to for his shots πŸ“Έ

Well done everybody another solid weekend of racing, bring on the next one! 😁πŸ’ͺ

It’s an honour to have so many athletes I work with on the start line at the one race….naturally having this many athletes racing there are going to be good races, ok races and bad races within the squad, but this is part of racing and we learn from mistakes and aim to improve on what we need to for the next one.

Massive well done to everybody and a few special mentions!

Anna mc Ginley taking first place overall female and improving last years time by 1 minute even though the focus has been on running mainly this year. πŸ‘

EmmaJo Mullan, 3rd female overall, 3 babies later and another comeback to racing, love being on the racecourse together and coming away with a podium together is even better❀️

Jam mc Connell 3rd in his AG 2 weeks in a row πŸ’ͺ
colinmc Colin Mc Cormick winning his AG with a great season opener, 2 mins PB and a AG win, consistent focused winter training showing its fruits πŸ’ͺ

Also shout out to the bro Sean Mullan, who just decided to do the Liam ball 8 weeks ago after coming on training camp to shoot some videos πŸ‘πŸ‘ smashed it and may have got hooked πŸ‘€

Nice to be in the mix myself with a 3rd overall and battling it out with top Athlete’s, well done to everyone from first timers to the winners πŸ‘πŸ‘

kicked off her race season domestically with a super time of 1:04:36 as she is still on the hunt for a guide for international elite racing she had to settle for me and a race in Limavady lol but a good run out all the same and plenty taken from th first race of the year as she aim to stay sharp fo when the opportunity comes to get back on the international start lines.

used this race as an opener before heading to IM Lanzarote next week, he’s trained so well and consistent this winter and it showed with a 2 min overall improvement from last year at this race going from 1:07:24 to 1:05:19, a massive jump when you are already down at those fast of times, well done Mick, good signs for next weekend πŸ’ͺ also picking up 2nd in his AG!

Massive well done to Eamonn Seydak on smashing challenge Salou half Ironman on Sunday.

Eamonn came to me middle of last year with the goal of completing this race for his 40th birthday, he absolutely smashed the training, the consistency was amazing to see and the enthusiasm and attention to detail, having played a long career as an elite level footballer in the NIFL Eamonn brought this through to triathlon with the professionalism and discipline to every session. Balancing running a busy business, lots of work travel and a young family , every session had to count and again to build a sustainable plan it had to be specific to his routine/work and family and that’s what we did, we played the long game and aimed for lots of training done over a long period of time not just a few weeks and then crash and burn.

Not only was this Eamonn’s first half Ironman it was his first ever triathlon!! Straight into the deep end.

Eamonn finished in a super time of 5:26:42 with a 32:36 swim, 3:03:04 bike and unreal 1:43:48 half marathon to top it off, the pacing and sticking to the nutrition plan and everything was exceptional especially for his first ever race, but it’s all down to the consistency, discipline and work Eamonn put in before race day that allowed him to execute so well πŸ‘πŸ‘

And enjoyed every bit of it based off the smiles in the photos 😁

Well done again Boss, brilliant stuff! πŸ‘πŸ’ͺ

Ironman 70.3 Mallorca race report πŸŠπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Massive well done to the super Long Bros Deaglan and Conal as they both smashed it on Saturday in Mallorca 70.3.

has been constantly improving over the last couple of years, with a few domestic Half Ironmans under his belt at Sheephaven he kicked off this season with Mallorca 70.3, putting in a solid winter building on top of the last couple years he showed good signs with a half marathon PB and strong biking levels going into this. As always it’s never plan sailing and balancing busy work schedule and lots of travel involved we made sure to protect the key sessions and the stay as consistent as possible. With a strong swim staying in control deags came out of the water in 39:33 and followed it up with a solid bike sticking to his numbers (for once πŸ˜‚) in 3:07 on the tough 90km bike course, followed up with a strong half marathon in 1:56 to get in under 6 hours in 5:57 πŸ’ͺ super first race of the year with a couple more 70.3 throughout the season to look forward to! Well done Boss!

Conal was inspired by the wee bro so he had to give it a go too! Coming to triathlon training just 8 months ago, the first thing we had to lock in was a blacked and sustainable training programme that fitted around his busy work schedule with travel and balancing family life and kids also, throwing any old 70.3 plan at somebody in that position is going to be too much and not sustainable, so I took time and patience to find this right balance and adaptability to change and make good decisions to ensure the best consistency was hit, once we got into a good swing Conal made massive improvements across all three sports, test numbers jumped really positively and especially his biking came on really strong, going from no real endurance training experience to being there week in week out on the bike in Horrible Irish winter conditions and managing no bother. It all stood to him on race day as he stuck to the plan perfectly and smashed it, swimming 34:33, biking 3hrs 20 and holding on to finish the run in 2:12 despite a continuing niggly knee injury that plagued his preparation in the few months leading up to the race. πŸ’ͺ

Good Session ex*****on and intensity control through pacing goes along way in building long term consistency and reducing risk of injury or overdoing it πŸ’ͺ
