Sarah has over 30 years teaching experience throughout the Nottingham and Derbyshire areas, and has had her own swim school established for over 20 years. Sarah Bates School of Swimming started in 1996 and has been teaching children to swim ever since. Our May Crash Course is filling up! 🏊‍♀️

What is a crash course? 🐬
This is a 30 minute lesson everyday (Monday to Friday) at 3:30pm. Children are in small groups of 4 and it is £80 for the week.

Who is this for? 🧒
Our crash courses are open for children over 4 years old. Children can be beginners or those who are wanting to perfect stroke technique. These can be perfect for those about to go on holiday! We assess all children on day 1 and work from there on each child's goals.

Looks like a few items enjoyed their swim lesson so much… they decided to stay behind! 😄

We currently have some crocs, jackets, and water bottles waiting to be reunited with their swimmers 🐬

Just a little reminder that our lost property is cleared on the last Sunday of every month. After that, any unclaimed items will be making a kind splash over to a local charity shop 💛

Please have a quick check before the end of the month to see if anything belongs to you!

Let’s get these items back home where they belong 🏡✨

🧒 Preschool Swim Classes (18 months – 4 years) – Spaces available:

Last month we celebrated an incredible milestone, 30 years of Sarah Bates School of Swimming! 💙

Sarah’s journey began back in 1988 when she qualified as a swim teacher at Green Bank Leisure Centre in Swadlincote. From there she didn’t stop, from teaching aerobics, step, aqua aerobics and even the legendary Aqua Rave classes (yes… we’re still trying to convince her to bring those back! 💃)

After moving to Derby in 1991, Sarah taught across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, sharing her passion for teaching at venues including Moorways and Queen Street.

In 1996 after becoming a new mum, Sarah took a leap of faith to built her own swim school, and she’s never looked back ❤️

From one teacher with a dream to the thriving community we see today, we couldn’t be prouder.

From all of us at SBSOS - thank you, Sarah. Here’s to the next chapter ✨
