Congratulations Cameron!

Cameron has had a busy few weeks. First in Austria, Cameron competed in the Alpencup against athletes a few years older and narrowly missed the semifinal by 0.01s! He then competed in the Austrian SBX Junior Championships and after being the second fastest qualifier and winning his semifinal, he went on to win the final and is now the U13 Austrian Junior Champion! 🥇

Next to Switzerland. Cameron finished 4th in the Swiss SBX Junior Championships against some tough competition, however it was a close battle. Then in the Swiss U13 SBX Open Race, after another tough battle, Cameron finished 3rd and comes home with another medal! 🏂

Since joining DIS, Cameron has progressed through our Prep Squad, Development Squad and now our Performance Academy putting 100% effort into every session. The results of his hard work are on show! Well done Cameron 👏

Congratulations Izzy!

Izzy competed in her first event of the 2026 track & field season. Izzy spent little time throwing in the winter due to injury but her efforts in the gym put her in a position to PB by over a meter and further her existing Senior, U20, and U17 club records. Izzy will continue to work hard in preparation for the British University Championships in May. Well done Izzy! 🥇👏

Recently, new athlete Tariro competed in the Aspire Inter-regional Basketball tournament. Playing for East Midlands, the team came up against West Midlands, South Wales, and Wales. They made it to the finals and finished with the silver medal! Congratulations Tariro! 👏🏀

The Derbyshire Institute of Sport Postgraduate Strength & Conditioning Internship Programme is now open for applications.

This programme offers the opportunity to:

🏋️ Work with athletes across multiple sports and age groups
🤝 Collaborate within a multidisciplinary support team
📊 Build hands-on experience using VALD performance technology
🎓 Receive supported preparation for one UKSCA accreditation attempt

Designed for aspiring S&C coaches ready to develop in a high-performance, applied environment, the programme provides structured learning, mentoring, and real-world coaching experience.

Last night, we had the pleasure of attending Burton Athletics Club’s annual awards evening.

It was wonderful to celebrate the achievements of both current and former DIS athletes.

A special highlight was Bekah Walton’s induction into the Burton Athletics Club Hall of Fame. Her first honour as the newest inductee was presenting Isla Rogers with the Female Athlete of the Year award — we are incredibly proud of them both!

Our very own Izzy Fellows also enjoyed a fantastic evening, collecting multiple awards, including U20 Female Athlete and the Throws Trophy.

Thank you and for inviting us. We look forward to celebrating even more athlete success in the year ahead!
