Our Rookie Lifeguard Courses are BACK!

Our Rookie Lifeguard Courses are a brilliant way for young swimmers to build confidence, learn lifesaving skills and understand how to stay safe in and around water.

Sessions run every Thursday from 4:30pm–5:00pm at Lonsdale Pool, with 10 lessons for £90. (Starting from 02/07)

The programme includes skills such as personal survival, CPR, recognising when someone is in trouble, who to call in an emergency, what to do, and much more.

Suitable for ages 8+ with a swimming ability of Stage 7+.

This week, Lonsdale Pool and Gayton Pool have been proud to support Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK Drowning Prevention Week.

During lessons, swimmers have been learning important water safety skills, including Float to Live, what to do if someone is in trouble in the water, who to call in an emergency, and how to use everyday items to help someone safely from the side by reaching and throwing.

We’ve also been talking about the key message: never jump in after someone. Call for help, stay calm, and use something that floats or reaches.

Helping our swimmers build confidence in the water is so important, but teaching them how to stay safe around rivers, lakes, pools and open water is just as vital.

A huge well done to everyone who took part.

This Drowning Prevention Week, we’re supporting RLSS UK by helping families feel more confident around water.

Whether you’re heading to the pool, beach, river or lake this summer, a few simple safety steps can make all the difference:

Stop and think
Stay together
Float if you get into trouble
Call 999 in an emergency

Water should be fun, safe and enjoyed with confidence. Why not use this week as a reminder to talk to your children about water safety, practise floating, and keep building their confidence in the pool?

This Diabetes Week, we’re supporting the message to Strike Out Stigma.

Diabetes affects people of all ages, and nobody should feel judged, blamed or excluded because of it. At either of our pools, we believe movement should feel welcoming, supportive and accessible, whether you’re swimming lengths, joining an aquafit class, bringing your child to lessons or simply building confidence in the water.

Swimming is a great low-impact way to get moving, feel good and be part of a positive community.
