We had a great weekend at with both on and off the track. One of my favourite circuits. Hopefully get to Brands at the end of June, another favourite of mine.

Our race meeting of the year and my first since June last year so was a little rusty 😅. Had a great weekend and was great to be back in the paddock. I can’t wait for Croft which is a favourite of mine. Hopefully I can put the zx6 out to pasture by then and race something new🐝

Round 4, Donington GP, Sprints and Endurance. Should just Copy and Paste Brands GP 🤣

Test day was just a Thursday evening session for me. Kind of average, but I don’t own the same book of excuses as so no excuses from me 😝

Saturday we were out early for sprint Qualifying. Made a bit@of an error choosing to go out at the back so struggled to get a clear lap, but that’s on me. Qualified near the back, but it’s where the fun is 😎.

Race 1 P17 and made a great start moving up 4-5 positions by the end of lap 1. Had a great race till the red flag trying to get past , but couldn’t quite do the job. Would say it was nice to share the grid with WSS rider Jeremy Alcoba, but never saw him 🤣

Endurance… Jack Smith started the race pumping in solid laps till the safety car came out. I was due to go second, but unfortunately some miscommunication meant I wasn’t quite ready. Finally went out and in the rush forgot to do my helmet up 👀 obviously came in losing us a good minute. I then went on my merry way for my 40 min stint. 30 ish mins in, disaster! Bike lost power followed by lots of crunchy noises… in my haste to get@off track I then binned it 🤣🤣… being on the infield, there was no lift so it was a very slow shameful walk back to apologise to the team (again). That ended Donny for me. I won’t be at Anglesey or Cadwell, but expect to be back for Oulton 💪

🏁Race report (half of one) 🏁

NLR round 2 (1 for me). Super series 600. Brands GP. Having missed this last year, I couldn’t wait to race here again.

Test day with 6 regular trackday people total was actually solid, few reds early, but probably the most running I’ve ever had there. Got up to a good pace quick and for a change used a test day to test things. I felt good and positive for race day.

Qualifying P14 overall. Wanted to try and get out and get a few good clear runs which I did, just not brave enough in the back section.

Endurance qualifying P10 overall and P5 in class in National 600. Glen didn’t do the test so me, Simon and Niki tried to keep to 3 laps each to give him extra time. Managed to nail a half decent lap 2 laps in and job done.

Sprint Race 1. P11. I knew I had to take some chances early to try not to get stuck behind. My race starts have always been poor. Partly being about 3 stone heavier than half the grid and everyone else motocross psychopaths 🤣. This time I got a fairly good start and made a few decent passes in the first few laps. This also made me prime meat for those that just got bad starts and ended up with some mega battles. Even though my pace wasn’t record breaking, I had a lot of fun! Couldn’t wait for Sundays races.

Endurance Race. Simon went first for his 45 min stint. Red flag part way through changed the plan slightly, but we managed it well. I was next and ready for struggle city (I’m not fit), but felt good right away. However Disaster 💥. Bike lost power and sounded as rough as nails. Pulled in and bikes running on 3 and a nice cloud of oily smoke followed.

We tried to see if we could find a simple fault and fix it, but it was terminal without a spare engine. And that was the end for me. Gutted, but part of racing. Aiming to be back for Croft to have another bite at the cherry 🍒💪

The weekend I was most looking forward to cut short sadly due to a mechanical issue that wasn’t fixable at the track 😢. More detailed race report later in the week as I did complete one race 😅, but had a great weekend regardless. Just time for a bit of bad luck is all 😎. Sorry to my endurance team mates .aldridge.111 and Glen as I didn’t complete enough time resulting in a Disqualification.

First race weekend of the year complete ✅

Great weekend with Bemsee in the MRO600 class which was completely full and will always add a little extra spice. Looking forward to a few more this year with them.

Qualifying didn't go well (P19) as I only had half a day's testing so never really got up to speed, but I felt good for the race and still in good spirits.

Race 1 Friday p13 overall and in class. Got a mega start and was as aggressive as I dared be in the opening laps. Ended in a 4 way battle for a top 10 spot, but a yellow flag on the last lap and a slight error from me meant I ran on at Hislops chicane and gave a few marshalls a freight as they ran across to help a rider (if anyone knows them, pass on my apologies 🙈). That ended that battle and finished a second or so behind. New PB 1:46.1 (still a few seconds off where I feel I should be, but got a whole season to go yet)

Race 2 Saturday p17 overall and p14 in class. Honestly never struggled so much with fitness and arm pump (oddly on the clutch side). Was fine for 3-4 laps and just dropped off making mistakes all over the place, missing gears etc. last time I raced here we did 11 lap races and was fine so I put it down to just riding a bit crap and not smooth mixed with poor fitness.

Race 3 p14 overall P11 in class. Felt much better with a few good battles early on and stayed a bit closer until the last lap and a half when I caught another rider that looked to have some issues and nearly crashed into him as he popped a massive wheelie on the exit of the first chicane then subsequently missed a gear so dropped several seconds.

Feeling good for Brands GP in a few weeks time back with , probably my favourite circuit in the UK 😎.

Also thanks for the help .1985 could have kept me away from the 🍺 though 🤣

Good to put the old beast through it's paces last week... and the bike too. Not had a huge amount of time on the bike other than Oct so happy with the general feeling in the end. Some rounds planned in April then see how things play out 😎

A day early, but I'll forget if I don't do it now. Things didn't quite pan out in 2024 for my racing like I had hoped, , but still had a blast, some good results with my first with in Cup600, a couple of PBs and some spills. 2025 will be a 🔥 year I have no doubt regardless of what I do race wise... Back to Andalucia soon 🙌
