Happy Easter.
Against all the odds, we managed to clear the site and wind the club up on time and in budget. Since the decision to wind the club up was taken at the last AGM, a band of dedicated volunteers have worked tirelessly, on and off site to make that happen . Today, Easter Sunday, was our final day as a Club. The boat pen and container are now empty, the gates are locked, the lease surrendered. Only a skip remains in the carpark filled with the final memories of what was once, not so long ago, a successful thriving sailing Club. Today, for me, is very very sad day as I remember all those club members who spent hundreds of hours over many years building the club up from those early days to what it became most recently, building it up for future generations of families to enjoy. Those are members I remember, some who have sadly since passed, some who after all those years are still members Those past members left the club in our hands in the hope that future generations would keep passing it forward. I just feel so sad that was no longer possible.
I hope members will keep in touch with each other. Thanks for your friendships, thanks for all those memories I made at Denholme Sailing Club.
The photos in the video were taken on Saturday, the final clearance day.
