This 👌🏽
Fitness should be a thing to enjoy, not obsess with or revolve your whole life around. A healthy balance will always be better in the long run; mentally and physically.
I think with age the ego calms, and vanity isn't quite as important as it once was. I was definitely super competitive and obsessed with being ripped/the best till my late 20's - to the point I thought I was normal and everyone else was weird.
If you're choosing working out over a loved one, or eating out of a tupperwear box instead of enjoying a friends birthday cake or wedding meal, then maybe it's time to think about the whys, and not the calories.
Finally a fitness trend I can get behind 😜. Thank you for starting the thread to show women it's okay and sometimes absolutely necessary to gain weight. There is 35+lbs between these two photos, but that's not the only thing I've gained in the last 4 years. I've re-gained my menstrual cycle, a regular body temperature, hair and nails that actually grow, my sanity, a healthy relationship with food, priorities outside of the gym, and a crazy amount of physical and mental strength. I've built meaningful and lasting relationships, grown closer with my family, and built a business - all of which was not possible when my world revolved around my appearance. I've gained a perspective on fitness that I never thought I'd have: It's no longer #1, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Most importantly, I've re-gained my health and happiness that had completely disappeared in that girl on the left. Everything I just said wouldn't be possible if it weren't for the extra 35lbs I'm carrying around today. And it's with that that I can confidently say, gaining weight is not only cool, it saved my life.
