πŸ†πŸŽ–πŸ… Medal Monday πŸ…πŸŽ–πŸ†

From ultras on Dartmoor to PBs in Exmouth and a surprise relay appearance in Cornwall, it's been another fantastic week of running for the Coasters! πŸ‘

⛰️ Dartmoor Discovery

Britain's only single-loop road ultra is no joke β€” 52km with a leg-sapping 1,578m of elevation. A huge challenge that takes determination, grit, and a strong pair of legs!

πŸ”₯ Alex S – 5:07:45

An incredible performance on one of the South West's toughest road events. πŸ‘

🌊 Exmouth 10K

Two Coasters took on the Exmouth 10K, with one coming away with a shiny new PB! πŸŽ‰

⚑ Sean M – 44:46 (PB!)
πŸ‘ Sharron T – 54:30

Fantastic running from both of you! πŸ’ͺ

🌦️ Classic Quarter

Sometimes race plans come together at the last minute! Charlie received a late call-up for the Classic Quarter in Cornwall and made the most of it.

Battling the wind and rain on the Lizard at 7am, Charlie B stormed his leg, won it, and even managed to collect some slightly questionable energy bars along the way! πŸ˜‚
A brilliant contribution to the team effort and proof that sometimes the best adventures are the unexpected ones. πŸ‘

Massive congratulations to everyone this week β€” whether you were tackling ultra distances, chasing PBs, or answering the call for a last-minute race!

Run Round Up for Tuesday 2nd June

🐦 Cygnets 🐦

A group of Cygnets took on the Radford Loop, albeit in what is widely considered to be the "wrong" direction! Despite this, spirits remained high throughout the run, with everyone enjoying the route. The only exception was the run leader, whose glasses spent most of the evening steaming up. πŸ₯΄

🦒 Swans 🦒

The Swans route took the group along the High Street, Exeter Road, past Dawlish College and Gatehouse School, before continuing along Secmaton Lane and rejoining Exeter Road from the opposite direction.

After spotting the beautiful calm waters at high tide, the group made a spontaneous detour over Coastguards Bridge and along to Boat Cove to enjoy the sea views. It was a stunning finish to a lovely, sociable and chatty run.

Thank you, Swans! 🦒

🐠 Fish 🐠

Great running from the Fish this evening! The group headed out along the sea wall to Dawlish Warren, where a regroup provided the perfect opportunity to abandon the original hilly plan.

There were a few grumbles at the mention of anything involving the word "up", so Alex helpfully suggested an alternative route using the much-loved bouncy new path alongside Shutterton Brook.

The group covered around 5 miles in total, enjoying a relaxed and chatty run throughout. Well done, Fish! 🐠

🐧 Puffins 🐧

The Puffins took on a challenging session consisting of two sets of 5 x 1-minute fast efforts with 1-minute easy jog recoveries, separated by a 3-minute recovery, followed by 3 x 1-minute hill efforts on the infamous Strand Hill!

It was certainly not the easiest workout the group has ever undertaken, but everyone gave a fantastic effort. The large turnout once again made for a brilliant session, and thanks were extended to everyone for their patience as the run leader continues to develop their session-leading skills. Set two ran much more smoothly, with structured recoveries proving more effective than the slightly chaotic "free-for-all" approach of set one, courtesy of a whistle that wasn't entirely cooperating.

Strand Hill proved to be the safest location from a traffic perspective, though perhaps not from a gradient perspective!

Mini Me sent apologies for missing the session, having been kept at home under the watchful eye of the cat.

Next week's session in Dawlish Warren will be:

πŸƒ Main Group:β€’ 6 x 2 minutes fast / 2 minutes easyβ€’ Followed by 3 x 1-minute hill efforts

πŸƒ Coastal Dash Racers:β€’ 4 x 20-second hill effortsβ€’ 2-minute walk/rest recoveries between reps

Great work everyone! πŸ‘

Run Round Up for Sunday 31st May

🍟 Seagulls 🍟

The Sunday Seagulls enjoyed a 5-mile run along the sea wall to Dawlish Warren and back.

This route has been receiving plenty of requests recently and once again proved to be a popular choice. The group returned in perfect time for refreshments and a social catch-up at Cool Beans Dawlish.

Given the positive feedback, this route will no doubt make another appearance if there is enough demand from fellow Coasters.
Well done everyone! πŸ‘

🌲 Burrator 10K
Three Coasters took on the beautiful (and never quite as flat as you remember!) Burrator 10K, with some brilliant results and milestone performances.

πŸ”₯ Marc L – 51:44

πŸŽ‰ Leah B – 58:53 (PB!)
Breaking the one-hour barrier for the first time and joining the sub-60 10K club! What a fantastic achievement. πŸ’ͺ

πŸŽ‰ Lottie S – 1:00:17 (PB!)
Another brilliant personal best and so close to that one-hour mark β€” a huge step forward! πŸ‘

Massive congratulations to all three runners. PBs don't happen by accident, and it's great to see the hard work paying off.

Here's to more PB bells ringing in the weeks ahead! πŸ””πŸ…
