Daventry Town Bowls Club — Raising Funds for Parkinson’s

We’re delighted to announce that our recent raffle at our 125th Anniversary we raised an amazing £375 in aid of Parkinson’s!

A huge thank you to everyone who bought tickets and supported this wonderful cause. Your generosity will help make a real difference to local people affected by Parkinson’s.

The £375 was proudly presented to John Ellis, Rosemary Ellis & Nick Clarke from the local Parkinson’s branch.

Daventry Bowls Club Archive

A little trip back to 1923…

That year, the club went on tour to The Swan Hotel in Builth Wells.

For those who aren’t familiar with the location, Google tells us that today it’s around 122 miles away in mid wales, taking approximately 3 hours and 14 minutes in a modern vehicle.

So just imagine making that journey in 1923!

It must have been quite an adventure

🎉 Celebrating 125 Years of Bowls! 🎉

What a wonderful way to mark our 125th Anniversary!

Following the game, every player received a special commemorative 125th Anniversary badge, with the Daventry players also receiving an anniversary bowls sticker to mark this very special milestone.

Each visiting club was presented with a commemorative pennant as a lasting memento of the occasion.

The celebrations continued with speeches from Malcolm Statham, Daventry Chairman; Paul Green, Bowls England Vice President; Duggie Mitchell of Daventry and Daventry Town Mayor Cllr Keith Astley. Grace was given by Keith Bishop, Daventry President Life member Ron Smith gave the history spanning the last 50 odd years that he has been involved with the club

It was a truly memorable occasion, celebrating 125 years of bowls, friendship, tradition and community. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special.

Sunday was a very special day as the club celebrated its 125th anniversary.

We were delighted to welcome Cllr Keith Astley, Daventry Town Mayor, who officially opened the proceedings and even took the opportunity to have a go himself! It was fantastic to see him getting involved and enjoying the occasion.

We were also pleased to welcome representatives from West End, Kettering Lodge, Kingsthorpe, Wellingborough, Bowls England and Bowls Northamptonshire to help us mark this incredible milestone.

A fantastic day was had by all, filled with friendship, laughter and some great bowling.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make our 125th anniversary a day to remember. Here’s to the next 125 years! 🎉🥂
