Normal business resumed today, at the track, as Dartford Harriers AC host their home match in the YDL ( Youth Development League) Lower age.

Some first class competition from these juniors.

Following last nights cabinet meeting at Dartford Borough Council, our proposed update to the clubhouse and facilities all went through by unanimous vote.

We’ll keep you all updated as we go along but for now, it’s all systems go !

NEW FACILITIES UPDATE : Steps in the Right Direction!

It’s been a while coming,over two years in fact but this week the initial proposals for the updates to the club house are being taken to the Dartford Borough Council Cabinet meeting on Thursday.

Central Park Track and Field Limited management team have been in discussion with Dartford council for some time about what might be possible (in terms of funding and planning permission). This week conversations progress on the first critical step of the journey with the ideas being presented to the council’s cabinet meeting on Thursday 23rd July. If we gain approval in this meeting, we’ll be able to start seeking planning permission and funding approval. (Both of which will take time and effort to progress).

The improvements to the club house will be to the benefit of our resident clubs (Dartford Harriers AC and Central Park Athletics), parkrun and the many schools and events that use the facilities.

While this is a fantastic step forward, we want to emphasise that we are still in the very early stages of this project. There are many administrative, funding, and planning hurdles left to clear before any ground is broken. Nothing is guaranteed at this early stage.

This is hopefully the start of an exciting journey and we’ll keep you up to date with progress.

and finally, to cap off another very busy summer season of school sports days, we welcome back the Leigh UTC Dartford
once again for their annual event.

This is always a great day with around 400 very excited and enthusiastic students

So that’s a wrap for another year.

We are proud to say we have accommodated 27 school sports events since March and provided a safe and secure environment for students to enjoy athletics….
