Karate is not just a sport it’s a journey that challenges every part of who you are.

The training is tough, pushing you beyond what you thought were your limits. It strengthens your body from the inside out, building core power, discipline, and control. But more importantly, it shapes your mind. It teaches resilience, focus and the courage to keep going when things feel impossible.

As martial artists, we chase something that can never truly be perfected. We strive, we practice, we repeat knowing that failure is not the end, but part of the path. We fall short again and again, yet we rise each time with greater determination.

Then comes the test standing before your peers, facing competition. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. Both are teachers. Winning reminds you to stay humble. Losing challenges your confidence, making you question your ability and your purpose.

But this is where karate reveals its true strength.

It teaches you how to stand back up when you’ve been knocked down. It shows you how to move forward even when doubt creeps in. It builds a spirit that refuses to quit, no matter how hard the journey becomes.

Karate is not about being perfect. It’s about never giving up on the pursuit of becoming better stronger in body, sharper in mind, and unbreakable in spirit.

Well done to everyone yesterday — not just the competitors, but also the coaches, helpers, and parents. This is exactly what makes us such a great club. Whether it was your first competition or you’re a seasoned competitor, you should all be incredibly proud of what you achieved.

There was, of course, one sad moment. No one ever wants to see an injury, but this is a contact sport and, unfortunately, it can happen. Kenneth is doing okay but will be out for a few months, and I’m sure we all wish him a speedy recovery.

We also won the 2025 Best Supporting Club trophy — although somehow we were missed when the winners were announced

We had a fantastic year last year and it’s been a strong start to this one. I won’t single anyone out because you all did amazing. I couldn’t be prouder of every one of you.

What a year we’ve had!

We have truly gone from strength to strength and that is entirely down to your hard work and commitment. While competition isn’t everything we do, the progress has been incredible—moving from taking just 3 or 4 competitors to events, to now averaging around 20 at each competition.

Our results speak for themselves. We’ve risen from mid-table in the medal standings to finishing 3rd place on more than one occasion. Along the way many of you have achieved outstanding personal milestones—from first-time competitors, to England squad members, to winning gold medals.

On top of this, we were fortunate to host two fantastic one-day training sessions led by exceptionally high-level instructors. You all took so much away from these sessions, and it showed clearly in your training and performances.

Best of all, the enthusiasm and energy within the club has grown tremendously. The atmosphere in training has been outstanding, and it’s been a pleasure to see everyone pushing themselves and supporting one another.

A huge thank you must also go to all the parents for your continued support—it truly makes a difference.

Let’s hope we can carry this momentum forward into next year and achieve even more together.
