Carb loading doesnโt mean eating a huge bowl of pasta the night before and hoping for the best.
And itโs also not an excuse to eat loads and loads of carbs that you wouldnโt normally eat.
The aim is to go into the race with your glycogen stores topped up, without feeling full or uncomfortable.
Over the next 24โ48 hours look to prioritiseโฆ
โ
Increasing your carbohydrate intake
โ
Include carbs at each meal
โ
Choose familiar, easy-to-digest foods
โ
Stay on top of your hydration
โ
Keep protein consistent
โ Donโt suddenly introduce loads of fibre or foods youโve never tried before
๐ฌ Carbs after 6pm will do you no harm whatsoever
Race morning, you want to stick with a breakfast you already know works for you.
Think cereal, toast, bagels, pancakes, bananas, whatever youโve used successfully before training or racing. ๐๐ข๐กโ๐ง ๐๐๐๐ก๐๐ ๐๐ง ๐ก๐ข๐ช!
Be measured in your approachโฆ
More carbs doesnโt mean eating until youโre stuffed.
Good luck to everyone taking on the Great North Run this weekend.
