Nearly 2 years!
Easter 2024 and the 2M Racing crew headed to Cadwell Park for a day out on the track. Unfortunately 50 miles into the day, the engine decided it no longer liked going Brum Brum, fast fast! So it ejected a piston out of the block and left a very sad looking rod waving at us.
The car was loaded up,brought home and parked in the workshop, a new(s/h) engine was sourced. Due to other commitments we didn’t get started straight away and they were left in the corner gathering dust.
Finally towards the end of last year we found the time to start this project again. We pulled the dead engine to see what damage had occurred, and to be fair it had properly f*^%¥d itself! So that was pretty much all going in the bin. We turned to our replacement engine, which was marked as having done 124k miles and with not knowing any history of the engine, it was an obvious decision to tear it down and replace everything we could. New gaskets, seals, rings and bearings have been installed.
Yesterday was the big day, time to fit the new engine. Fitting went well, with not too many bad words uttered. A few hours later it was in, connected up and full of fluids. Time for first start, always a nervous moment.

Now it’s time for us to get back to some proper racing.
We are signed up for the MR2 Championship this year, so intend to be competing at all 7 rounds, which include Cadwell, Donington, Silverstone, Thruxton and other great tracks. Feel free to come along to any of the race meeting and say hello!
