This is Ellis.
Ellis doesn’t even train with us anymore but he’s always been a stand out student for us. (And Josh who recently made a comeback).
This was his first interclub. Despite training predominantly MMA, this was a boxing match.

But what stuck with us wasn’t his performance…
He came in the gym the following Monday and asked if he could speak to both of us (Wil & Lanch), we had an ‘office’ at the time - how posh 😅 and in we went.
He thanked us for all the time and effort we’d put into him in the run up but said competing wasn’t for him.
Bear in mind, he’s maybe 18, if that at the time.
He said he loved training and would like to stick with that, he doesn’t want to compete and that was gold.
No ego, no bravo, just pure honesty. He tried it, he was good at it, but it wasn’t for him.
He continued to train until eventually he went off to uni and we lost another great student, when he came back during holidays he would always drop in for some training and he picked up like he’d never left - now he’s DJ’ing or something, somewhere in the world!
Fighting isn’t for everyone - and that’s OK. When we know your goals we’re better able to help you achieve them, be it get fit, learn skills, have a go, become world champion…you let us know 👊
