Last night our U16s celebrated a very successful season at their end of season Dinner and awards. The evening was a chance for the girls to dress up and the evening focused on us as a team, players, parents, support staff and coaches.

We reflected on our successes:

Durham U16s County Cup Champions

U16s National Cup Quater Finalists (the first time the club has had a girls team in the competition)

Runners up in the inaugural North East & Cumbria U16s girls league

13 girls representing the team and club for Durham U16s PDG

Introducing several girls completely new to rugby into the team and into the sport.

We also celebrated some individual awards:

Most Improved Player - Isabel Watson (sponsored by Llewellyn MST)

Coaches Players - Isobel Banks (sponsored by NB services (NE) Ltd) and Poppy Gibson-Lillie (sponsored by EDDRU Ltd)

A massive well done to all 28 girls that have made up our squad this season. Every single one of whom has made a substantial contribution to our team 👏👏👏

Wishing all our Darlington Ladies and the rest of the team the very best of luck for tomorrow’s Team Luke vs Wooden Spoon Vets game!

Super excited to see so many people involved in such a fantastic day, all in support of the incredible Team Luke Foundation and in memory of Luke Bell. And to own Alysha Bell, Luke’s sister who co-captains the team… good luck, we’re sure you’ll make him proud.

Last game of the season.
With a few injuries in the squad, a committed 15 head down to Wensleydale to represent us one last time this year.

It’s been a tough season, no hiding from that — but the ones who’ve stuck it out, kept showing up, and kept believing have shown real heart and determination to drive this squad forward.

To the 15 travelling tomorrow: be proud. You’ve earned that shirt. Now go and finish the season the right way. 💪

As the dust settles from our final home game of the season, not the result we wanted but we’ve still got plenty to celebrate...

We welcomed in a new leadership team and what a start they made…

A huge moment for the club as our very own president Ali "Ding" Bell stepped off the pitch for the final time. A true pioneer of the women’s game, leaving behind a legacy that will last far beyond the final whistle 💫

Congratulations to Ameilia Hawkins who has completed her first season as part of England U18s for North East (Sarah Hunter). Having played in the previous 3 fixtures, the PDG season culminated today at the England U18 PDG festival at Broadstreet Rugby Club in Coventry, where she was part of superb team performances across all 4 games.

Massive well done Ameilia, everyone at the club is extremely proud of you!

Congratulations to the girls from our U16s who have been part of the Durham County U16s PDG squad for this season. Every single one of you have represented the club superbly and everyone is extremely proud of you and your progress. Some of the girls will now progress into U18s, where some wi have a further year at U16s and will hopefully be joined by further Darlington girls as they move up to U16s and continue to showcase the player development on offer at the club.

Well done girls, We are all extremely proud of you all!

Tough result on the road for Darlington Ladies RFC
🖤🤍❤️

The scoreline didn’t go our way, but the performance, heart, and determination from the whole squad was outstanding 👊 Every single player played out of their skin.

🔥 Forward of the Match: Leanne Taylor – immense in defence with dominant tackling and incredible work rate, covering every inch of the pitch.

⚡ Back of the Match: Alysha Bell – leading the backs superbly and a constant attacking threat throughout.

🏉 Opposition Player of the Match: Alanah Drummond – outstanding at 10, controlling the game with excellent kicking and blistering speed, also adding the conversion.

💥 Try Scorer: Snook – crossing the line with a great finish before an unfortunate injury, with the conversion slotted by Alanah.

🦢 No silly goose awarded this week — impossible to choose with every member of the team putting in a huge shift.

A tough and physical game saw four of our players make trips to hospital — sending all our love and wishing Snook, Rachael, Lauren, and Kath a speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹

Proud of every single player who stepped on that pitch.
