Right that's it! I have just weighed myself on the scales and touching 13 stone 10 pounds . More than 3 stone heavier than when I was running full time. I think its time to put the running shoes on and set a target. I've decided on the Darlington 10km.

My daughter and family think I am past it at 45 years of age,
and basically should but put out to pasture like an old race horse.
However, I have been inspired by two things I've seen in the recent press. Firstly, Ron Hill's running streak of 52 years and 39 days without a day off. What an ambassador for distance running. Secondly, Kathrine Switzer the girl who started it all for women, the college kid who took on the all male Boston Marathon in 1967. Kathrine was told no woman can run a Marathon. Up against the male establishment, press and Amateur Athletic Union she did it. This revolutionised women's Marathon running across the world.

However, for me, now, its not about the time and position but just about running and keeping fit and healthy. Good job really after my first run of the new year around Darlington's South Park. A twenty five minute jog, now my knees are sore and my calves are tight. Know a Sports Therapist anyone?

See you all out there pounding the pavement, keep you posted on my progress.
