Before I close this page I wanted to give students some safety guidance regarding their future aerial practice.
Aerial arts use dynamic forces that put a strain on anything the equipment is rigged from.
Please make sure your studio has insurance in place.
They should also have a structural engineer report that states the beams are safe for aerial use.
The teacher should have some qualifications such as spin city and have extensive practical experience of aerial.
Mats should always be used unless there is a soft flooring in place. Equipment including hammocks and rigging should be checked and replaced regularly.
Please never be afraid to ask these questions about your studio. Any reputable studio will be only too happy to answer these and show you their reports and documentation.
If anyone is considering home rigging please contact me and I am happy to discuss this and what you need to consider.
