Today 2 of our girls teams went to Redcar for a tournament - the U14s and the U10 Earharts.

Both teams battled well in closely contested matches and gave it their all. They played, they laughed, shared snacks and danced (for the most part off the pitch!) and enjoyed some time with their friends. Well done girls!

🧡⚽️ A lovely day at the Pools Youth Tournament for our U7 Girls! ⚽️🧡

The girls were fantastic all day, finishing joint second in the group stages and making it to the semi finals.

The semi-final was a tough game and, despite a brave performance and giving absolutely everything, it wasn't quite enough to get through to the final. Every single one of the girls should be incredibly proud of themselves - they were great!

There was some brilliant football on show throughout the day, but what stood out most was the way the girls supported each other, worked hard and enjoyed being together. The friendships and team spirit in this group are something special.

All of the parents are really proud of every one of the girls today. Plenty of smiles, plenty of effort and plenty of memories made.

Well done, girls! 🧡👏

This weekend our u12s headed to Filey (Bridlington) for a weekend of tournament football ⚽️

The weather was perfect for a weekend by the sea, although maybe even a little too hot for the players.

With a wide selection of teams from across the North East, Yorkshire and even a Notts County Women’s team, the girls relished the chance to play new teams.

Saturday saw us only concede 1 goal and try a new attacking formation, which the girls adapted to excellently after a super quick ‘water bottle’ formation briefing!!

Sunday was an earlier start and the girls took a couple of games to get back into the swing. But again played some lovely football and championed each other throughout, ending both days with smiles on their faces

The best bit - watching them all enjoy time together away from the pitch; friendships grow, bonds form and memories made 🧡🖤

Well done girls the coaches and your parents are super proud of you all 👏🏻

Our U13 girls celebrated the end of the season tonight with a session full of fun, laughter and silly games! Rounded off by coach Tony Todd braving a chair and inviting the girls to kick a ball at his head!

We don’t say it enough, but thank you so much to Tony, Mark Churchman and Andy Nicholls for all you do for these girls. They’re lucky to have you! 🧡

Our U9 girls are sponsored by an amazing charity Forever Eight. They have an event coming up soon and need raffle prizes. If we get 4 prize donations in the comments I’ll post the video of the ball finding its target on poor Tony’s head… and trust me you want to see it! 🤣🤣

Norton & Stockton Ancients vs U9 Earharts

Just under a century ago, a brave, pioneering woman departed in a bright red Lockheed Vega 5B monoplane, to become the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic. Her name, of course, was Amelia Earhart.

The name of that plane was ‘Friendship’….a sobriquet that could not be more fitting for OUR Earharts!

Their bravery, their willingness to try something new and most importantly the friendships that have formed over this season has been sincerely heartfelt to witness, as a coach, for the parents and for our amazing sponsors Forever Eight who work tirelessly to fundraise in the memory of their own brave Amelia.

Today’s match took off smoothly for the girls - passion and resilience from nose to tail - but after a few small errors they hit turbulence and the game quickly became lost at sea.

As soon as the plane landed, however, any airsickness immediately turned to smiles. The score irrelevant, the bonds between each and every one of them evident to see.

As we finish the season, we must remember how new most of the team is - some only kicking a football for the first time a couple of months ago. Their skills will develop, their confidence grow…but the friendships that have formed in the last 8 months will hopefully be with them for many seasons to come.

POTM: Harriet, for doing exactly as the coach had asked; marshalling the skies with her endless energy, keeping a lot of the danger at bay, as well as soaring forward at every opportunity.

Goals:

U9 Earharts vs Boro Rangers Gold
Robert Louis Stevenson (no relation to our player Lottie!) could have told the Jekyll and Hyde story of today’s match; a cliched ‘tale of the two halves’; the fable of Jekyll and Hyde.

The opening period bore all the hallmarks of a collective Dr Jekyll - timid, uncertain and detached from the very game they had come to play. Passes drifted without conviction, challenges seemed a burden, the spark was absent, bar a few exceptions.

Yet football allows for transformation. A chance for redemption.

A second half dominated by Mr Hyde - a figure of menace, energy and unapologetic intent. Suddenly there was bite in the tackle, urgency in the run, a collective effort that showed how we can compete.

Eva and Eleanor’s endeavour and hunger lifted spirits and brought the resurgence that had been requested. Eva steadfast and resolute in defence but marauding forward when allowed. Eleanor battling and defeating her opposite number and providing cross after cross, for Ayla to deservedly convert.

It was, in the end, less a match and more a study in duality. The lesson being, how to summon Mr Hyde from the outset.

POTM: Jointly to Eleanor and Eva who both deserved the trophy this week. Eva reads the game so well and put in an outstanding performance in defence, relentlessly protecting our goal. And Eleanor for her grit and determination, picking up the pace and driving the ball back down to our opponent’s side, without which we wouldn’t have scored. Well done to both girls - you were both absolute stars today! 🌟 🏆

Guisborough 8 v 3 Middleton u13 girls

The girls travelled to a sunny Guisborough for their first competitive (and final) game in months thanks to the stupidity of the TJFA. The rust showed as Guisborough raced into an early lead. A few chances were presented to Middleton and the goal eventually came as Bethany finished from outside the box. A poor first half, where the ball bag on the side of the pitch had more control of the ball than the away team. Half time saw the girls go in 5 - 1 down.

The second half was a much more competitive with chances at both ends and hard work across the pitch by both teams. This was reflected in the scoreline for the second half with the game finishing 8-3. Well done to league winners Guisborough who move through to the next round.

Game highlights were a cool and composed finish from Jemima following some nice play down the left from Evie and the ball playing goalkeeping from Mega in the second half as she volunteered to go in goal following an injury to Annie.

Player of the match goes to Jemima and Evie goes away qwackers with 'Dave' the duck!
