Loch Ness Marathon 2025! 3:17 ✔️🏅🥳

A weekend to remember travelling to Inverness to complete the Loch Ness Marathon with the best support team (just missing my Cal). I received a very last min charity place (2 weeks ago ) from Scottish Mountain Rescue to take on this challenge and I'm so glad I said yes as it's one of the most beautiful runs I've completed and they are a very deserving charity. ⭐️

Being taken by bus with 6000 other runners from Inverness to Whitebridge, was quite simply stunning, and then being piped all the way to the start line by an amazing pipe band to run through incredible countryside and then along an undulating route next to Loch Ness, up some long hills 😅 and then down and along into Inverness was just unbelievable and something I'll never forget. The hills were a challenge but awesome and the downhill running was fabulous. Racing for the finish line was just the ultimate buzz and getting a PB was the icing on the cake 🤩. Secretly training for this in case I got a place (my name was on a few charity lists) was a real challenge with juggling kids and work but honestly it has given me such purpose and I feel like I've discovered a new part of me that I didn't know existed. Resilience, grit, pushing through on the down days and self belief really do exist and having the mind set of "I can do this" is the way forward for me. This is why I love running, it pushes me to do try harder and reach further. 🧡🏃‍♀️

A massive thank you to my ever supportive Husband Kenneth who drove all weekend to get me where I needed to be on time, don't even know how many miles it was all in but it was a lot while always keeping me calm and saying "go for it" , you are one in a million. Plus thinking of those 3 faces waiting on me at the finish line was what kept me going and the smiles and screaming I heard from them as I crossed that finish line, I will never forget. Love you all. ❤️

This Sunday I will be running The Great Scottish Run Half Marathon. I am combining the two runs to raise funds for Scottish Mountain Rescue. Please if you can spare a £1 to give to this deserving charity who risk their lives to save others, providing comfort, support and reassurance in desperate times, at any time of the day or night, then please use the link below. Many thanks, anything you can give is very much appreciated. 😊✨️🏃‍♀️

Happy National Fitness Day to all the wonderful CSB-FITers, Spinners, and HyCross Circuiters at Bowfield. You always work so hard and give everything a go, pushing yourselves to the limit and smiling all the while. You are all awesome! 🧡

Fitness isn't a quick fix or something that happens overnight. It's about learning, working hard everyday, pushing through on the days when you are tired and want to patch the workout, having resilience, determination, self belief and remembering that it's a lifestyle not a fashion trend. I'd rather turn up in rubbishy leggings, top and trainers and smash out a great session, than have all the gear and nae idea, as they say. I have my days when I'm like, I'm so tired, I just want to stay in bed and go back to sleep but honestly once I give myself a good talking to, lace up my trainers and get out there whether it's a run, walk, teaching spin or a workout, I always feel amazing after it without fail. If you invest in your health and fitness, you will never look back and will feel 100% better. The achievements outweigh the down days by miles. 😜 🥰.

Thank you to everyone who attends my classes. You make my job a pleasure, and you make me smile. Fitness Is Happiness. 🤩🚴‍♀️🤸‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏋‍♀️

RUNNING IS A PRIVILEGE—NEVER TAKE IT FOR GRANTED🏃

Not everyone gets to run. Not everyone has the strength, the health, or the opportunity to lace up and hit the road.

So when you run, remember what a gift it is.

Every step you take is a chance to grow stronger. Every mile is a moment to feel alive. Even the hard runs, the slow runs, the ones where your legs feel heavy—they are all a privilege.

Somewhere, someone wishes they could do what you’re doing. Someone wishes they had the ability, the time, or the freedom to run. But YOU do.

So run with gratitude. Run with joy. Run because you can.

Because every step you take is not just movement—it’s a reminder of what your body is capable of. And that is something worth celebrating🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🔥

This was my run today. On my training plan I was to cover a half marathon (13.1 miles). Once out I decided I'd add a wee bit extra onto that and cover 14 miles. The weather was brutal, not as bad on the way out as the wind was at my back, but coming home it was horrid. Wind right in my face and sideways rain. I was questioning my life choices at mile 10 🤣 but I had no option but to continue as I had no phone to contact Kenny to come and collect me (something I've never done on a run btw). Despite running with soap suds coming out my leggings from the rain activating the washing powder in them 🙈 and having a lot of "I want to go home" thoughts, I completed the 14 miles and even although it felt like hell coming back I'm still really glad I went out and got the miles done.

As I've often spoken about, running is my happy place and I always love to go into my wee zone and have some "me" time covering the miles. Today was a real test of mental strength more than physical strength and as I said at points I was not impressed at all but I'm so glad I persevered and achieved my goal for the day.

It's important to remember that you will have times when you feel like giving up and abandoning workouts, runs, challenges but stop and think how will I feel mentally if I do that?? I for one would rather struggle through a few mins of "this is hellish" and feel amazing when I've completed it than regret not pushing myself to complete it and stopping. Nothing in life is easy but if you take control and find that extra gear in your mind, you will succeed. Your body will go where your mind takes it so always battle the demons and think positive. 🩷

So this is a photo of my wonderful 8.45am Saturday Sizzlers earlier today who completed just over an hour of indoor cycling with me. It is an action shot of them just after completing an 8 min, all-out effort speed and stamina challenge. It shows the effort, mental strength, and determination needed for these challenges, and indeed, the whole session and these awesome people have all of the above in bucket loads. Yes, it's great to have the woohoo, smiley finisher pics, but this shot is just so real and honest. You can see the exhaustion, the sweat, the grit, and the hanging on till the end mindset, and that's all any instructor can ask for. Amazing work from each and every one of them. Well done team. 👍

If you want to change your full system - body and mind - then you must take on training that takes you out of your comfort zone, it's the best way to see those positive changes. If you stay in the safe zone, you will stay the same. 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️🚴

This cracked me up this morning 🤣. A lot of lovely people make signs up to motivate runners along a race route, and it is really nice of them to take the time to do so, but this is just honest and hilarious. 😂. "Don't even think about getting comfy. You are nowhere freaking close to the finish, so just get on with it." 🤣 I'm including this in my next motivational class speech 😂😂😂.

My first experience of this was when I did the London Marathon (in actual London and not virtual) for the first time and realised what a mistake it was to walk back to the hotel after the run 😳. Stairs were not my friend. 🤣😵‍💫🙈
