Pathhead Community Hall are having an open day this Saturday where everyone is invited to pop in and see their new 2 Petanque Pistes built at the back of the club overlooking lovely countryside. Everyone is invited to pop in and have a tea or coffee or a pint in the brilliant lounge 3 feet away from the piste. The open day starts at 2pm on Saturday till late in the day. Great addition to the Petanque Community which is growing and growing.

Hello everyone. The women members in the club are looking to organise Ladies meetings to promote women in Petanque clubs. I think its a great idea and any support needed to make this progress should be given by the club and its members. Kathleen Rankin has started this process yesterday (Friday 19th) but the rain hampered the meeting a little . Here is the beginning of Kathleen's plans for the women in the club if they so desire to take part.

"Right ladies we had a good first meeting. We had a group play through the rain. Hats off to you. And a group that had coffee at Jackie’s then played once the rain went off. We have decided to meet weekly for the next three weeks 2-3.30pm on Fridays : 26th June, 3rd July. 10th July. Then monthly after that. I’ll keep you posted re dates for Emma Montgomery coming to join us for tips and inspiration. A good start today despite the weather."

Please give support in any way with this exciting idea inside Dalkeith Petanque club. Well done Kathleen and also Jackie for her hospitality and support.

Coming to the end of our 2nd year and the club is starting to get really engaged with the community. Delighted to be asked to showcase Petanque at the Great Get Together at Danderhall Miners Club on Sunday morning for an event ran by our local MP. Last year 2 of our Councillors asked us to showcase Petanque at Arniston Rangers FC ground with the rest of the community groups. They are a great success. DPC helped out Dalkeiith/Jarnac Twinning Group when they held a fundraiser at the Dalkeith Community Petanque Piste where 14 different community groups played petanque. Many of them for the first time. Feel now we have arrived as part of the community. On top of these events we have been involved with quite a few groups who love coming to the piste.

Scottish Petanque Association Scottish Petanque Singles Competition was played out today at Moffat Petanque Club by 50 individual players from all over Scotland . Brilliant competition , professionally run and ended in a fantastic final fought out by 2 Frenchmen, Alexandre Simon (Dalkeith Petanque Club) and Quentin Renau (Inverleith Petanque Club). The final was won by Quentin Renau from Inverleith PC in a thrilling match. A great final that shows Scottish Petanque on the up and up with increases in memberships and clubs. This showed up in Moffat. Dalkeith had its quota of 2 out of 3 of its French members playing. We had Jean-Christophe Froge along with Dalkeiths own Kevin Park entering what is in the Petanque world "The Biggie". Well done Kevin and Jean-Christophe. The 3 of you did Dalkeith Petanque Club proud today.

Glad to announce Dalkeith PC's first competition amongst other clubs. Its nearly 2 years now and the clubs confidence and presence is growing and growing. We only have 6 pistes and cannot grow due to our surroundings so we are limited. Exciting times in Midlothian with this competition, our own singles comp, the Midlothian Singles comp and our anniversary celebration open in August to teams this year . Last year was local community groups. We also have the brilliant Lothian and Borders League to contend with which hopefully by the end of the summer will have new additions. Dalkeith PC coming along nicely and its great we are out there meeting and making friends with the brilliant Petanque community.

Well done Kevin Park and Alex Simon on coming 3rd out of 36 teams playing in the Penicuik Petanque Club Open doubles competition. Teams from all over Scotland competing in an extremely tough competition. Well done. More to come for sure.
