RSAC Scottish rally

After a very last minute decision to do the rally after getting all clear after recent knee injury and getting the electrical issue sorted with the car not wanting to start once it was warm.

With not being on gravel for 2 years and not being in the car since last April the plan was to take it easy and let Chloe learn more with note reading with it being her first proper event reading notes and being on gravel.
But after a few corners on ss1 it all came back car feeling good and Chloe calling the notes out nicely with no problems at all the pace was turned up got to the end of stage 1 with a clean run and a marshal warming us our very hot brakes.

Ss2 glengap- was a clean run up to about half way the brakes were starting to cook and have no brakes and coming into a corner the car was not up for slowing up, into the corner we go trying to scrub speed by sliding we started to go wide which was caught on camera by chuck 🙈

Ss3 Dalbeattie- we set off knowing how much this stage can bite and the brake fluid boiling and not having much brake when they heat up we set off to get back to service but that went out the window and half way through the stage we started to get dust pockets from the car in front from there on the dust was starting to get worse to the point we were struggling to see it was no longer dust pockets we were quickly catching him and taking 43 seconds out them

Coming into service sitting 2nd in class 4 seconds to Barry Lindsay in his Peugeot 206.
Was a quick check from the boys to find some oil leaking out thinking it was coming from the sump but was coming from the oil temp sensor. Running out of time we didn’t have time to sort the boiled fluid.

Ss4 Barney water- we set out to do the same knowing we weren’t far off Barry’s time and with the bumps being brutal on the first pass, to taking a second off our first run and to Barry taking 16 out us.

For SS5 glengap we set out to settle for 2nd in class with being 2.5 minute to 3rd in class it was to get back to service and try get some brakes for final stage but coming into a square Left, foot on the brake and nothing happening couldnt scrub of speed In time and car wasn’t turning quick enough then next we know we were in the bracken nose first, straight into reverse with our dust making a big cloud over us we couldn’t see a thing it settled quickly tried to reverse out the car started to slide and we were getting further down a bank. Thanks to 2 spectors that came running down the road to try get us out with unfortunately with all their hard work we were beached and sadly it was game over.

Thanks to the recovery crew for a simply 2 second pull out.

Think is safe to say Chloe’s definitely got the bug and hasn’t been scared off to the point on the way out after getting a pull out she asked when’s the next one and having the biggest smile on her face. Super proud of her which would have one of her biggest learning curve days learning roads book, time cards and reading the notes with me driving at 100%, never once did she get lost or go hesitant, it not a easy thing reading notes in the woods at speed.

Big thanks to dad for all his hard work getting the car ready and in service and to Iain Macleod or getting to the bottom of the electrical issue. Craig McKeand for your work in service.

Big thank you to Jamie and Daniel at TaylorMade Products for the very very last minute stickers

Sorry to everyone in service, our sponsors and to Chloe for not getting to the finish. We will be back real soon, get the brakes sorted and a new set of mud flaps the mud flaps and we are sorted.

Thanks to our sponsors if it wasn’t from yous we wouldn’t get to go rallying

We will not staying away for as long as we did before.

Warcop stages 2025

With a quiet winter break and nothing planned for this season with commitments to a championship, scott decided to do warcop stages along with Chloe McDonald making her debut in the navigators seat.

Both suited and booted helmets on ready to head to ss1 car decided it didn’t want to start not even with a bump start, with time ticking the boys in service were straight onto it but unfortunately the team were going to be OTL, got the car back into service and found the problem.
With the car fixed and ready to go again super rally it was, Scott and Chloe headed to ss2 nerves were building up 3,2,1 go it was like Chloe had done it before not a single note wrong.
Back to service nothing needed done other than a tyre change as Scott wasn’t happy with the tyre performance.

Ss3 was a drive through with a stage blockage.

15 minutes before due time for service out to go to ss4 the throttle cable snapped with that fixed it was a race against the clock to try get a run in ss4 but unfortunately the team were over their time and was another OTL

Ss5 didn’t come without its dramas either car wouldn’t start again with help of Colin Telfer jumping in to help we traced that the ignition coil was failing, quick sort and away to the stage, 1 lap done and going well we caught 2 cars and stuck behind them for more than half a lap.

Ss6 was a clean stage catching 2 cars again getting stuck behind one for a good we while.

Thanks to dad and Connor for serving and to Colin telfer and Craig for jumping in to help.

Big well done to Chloe who did a superb job on the notes not getting lost once on the notes, think she’s definitely got the bug now.

Time to put that rally behind and get the car prepped so it’s sitting ready to see what rally takes to Scott’s fancy.

Thanks again to our sponsors

As 2024 comes to a end, Scott has had a successful season coming away with 3 class wins and a 2nd in class out of 4 rally’s and taking the Scottish Rally ChampionshipC2 championship along with 2x src clubman prizes and Questmead clubman best improved seeding award.

The season has had its ups and downs but as a team we have pulled through it and got what the team had planned to achieve and more.

A big thanks has to go to Bryan he is the main man in the team that keeps the car maintained for Scott and working countless hours to make sure the cars tip top for the next set of stages and the next rally and keeping the sprits up in the team. He’s took a step back from his rally career to let Scott progress and do more rally’s. “I can’t thank him enough for what he’s done this year and all his hard works paid off with a successful season” said Scott.

Big thanks to Chloe McDonald (lucky charm) for her support all through the season even at the tough times and putting up with Scott’s grumpiness 😂. From now on your not allowed to miss a event it’s bad luck.

Connor Gardiner for jumping into the car for the last 2 rounds and did a superb job on the notes, thank you again 🙏🏼

Ewan for servicing and all your hard work behind the scenes, thank you again.

Most importantly the sponsors it truly wouldn’t be possible to go out and rally if it wasn’t from the help from yous.

As we go into 2025 nothing is planned yet for Scott and the team, we will look at the calendar and do some planning and see what the winter break brings.
But for now as a whole team at B&S Rallying we would like to wish yous all a happy new year and all the best in 2025.

If it wasn’t from the boys in service Scott and Connor’s day would of been put to a earlier end after the first loop. But after some ideas between the boys they came up with a solution. It’s all about team work in the sport.

RSAC Scottish Rally one to forget for the whole B&S Rallying team.

Firstly we would like to welcome Connor Gardiner and craig Mckeand to the team

After 7 weeks of long days and late nights Bryan’s bmw was ready to go rallying and Scott’s 205 was back into gravel spec.

Bryan and Craig set off first to stage 1 running 4th on the road, bwm crew took it easy in the first stage getting use to the car, Craig getting use to reading notes as it was his first ever rally, by the end of the stage the pair were getting familiar with each other and gaining confidence.
Stage 2 the bmw crew picked the pace up with Bryan happy with the car and craig’s note reading, stage going well until they were caught out on the braking on a tricky section and unfortunately ended up sliding in a ditch and doing a bit of damage to the car making it a end to the bmw crews day.

Scott and Connor paired up for the first time as well. Plan was to get through first stage and get use to each other and pick pace up from there but top of the dip stick broke off 3 miles in and car filling up with smoke, 205 crew were forced to stop in stage to see the problem. With a temporary fix got the crew to the end of the stage losing a good 5 minutes. With a better fix after stage 1 the crew 205 aimed to just drive through 2&3 to get the car to back to service.

Back into service with just enough oil in engine, new solution to stop oil coming out the dip stick and the 205 crew were back out for the afternoon loop, aiming to just get seat time with to much time lost in the morning.

Stage 4 pace was good and everything clicked for the pair but a spin near the finish lost a bit of time.
Stage 5 half a mile into a 8 mile stage they got a front right puncture Scott making the decision to just keep going they only lost 2 minutes.

Stage 6 was clean and tidy to just get to the finish line.

Thanks to Colin telfer engineering and Ewan Gourlay for your hard work getting the bmw finished in time and to Chloe McDonald for understanding and supporting the team to get both cars ready.

Big thanks to the sponsors if it wasn’t for yous it wouldn’t be possible
