💚 WHAT AN AUGUST! 🏊‍♀️☀️

What a fantastic month it’s been for the club!

We kicked things off at the Summer Nationals in Swansea, before enjoying a slightly slower summer training schedule — although our members certainly didn’t stop! 💪

⛰️ Hosting the Mini Beast of Bryn & volunteering at the main event

And now… September is here and we’re back in the pool FULL SWING! 🏊‍♀️💨

Our Masters have the final Welsh Triathlon Sprint event this weekend, with others preparing for IRONMAN Wales in Tenby. 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Our swimming season also gets underway with the Bridgend Sharks Disability Meet, followed by Newport later this month.

And to all our younger swimmers heading back to school — especially those starting secondary school this week — have a fantastic first week! 📚💚

🏊 YOUTH SQUADS ARE BACK TRAINING THIS WEEK! 💚❤️

Following our short summer break, all Afan Valley youth squads return to training this week!

We can’t wait to see our swimmers back poolside, refreshed and ready to kick off the new season with energy, enthusiasm and determination. 💪

Thinking about joining a swimming club? We’re always excited to welcome new swimmers who want to develop their skills, build confidence and be part of the team.

Whether you’re returning for another season or just starting your swimming journey, there’s plenty to look forward to.

Quiz Night Update 🧠🎉

What an unbelievable quiz night we had at Afan Mountain Lodge last night, raising over £500 for the club! 🙌

The room was a complete sell-out, with not a chair left empty, and the quiz certainly got everyone’s brains working! Thank you for your support.

A huge thank you to all our club volunteers who worked hard to organise the event, and to Afan Mountain Lodge for hosting us and donating the quiz prize.

We’d also like to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported our raffle and generously donated prizes:

Finally, our Treasure Hunt, which was postponed due to the weather, will be rearranged. Keep an eye out for the new date coming soon!

🍀 It wasn’t just our young swimmers out competing last weekend…

Our Masters swimmers were putting their training to the test too!

🌊 Emily & Caroline competed at the British Masters Life Saving Championships in Cornwall, battling some very rough sea conditions while Caroline's girls were also competing at the championships.

🥇 Drew was competing at the Sharks Swim alongside Molly and had a fantastic result, finishing 1st in his age category!

And the action continues this weekend…

🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️ Rhys Milson is taking on the Welsh Triathlon Sprint event in Barry. Rhys is another of our Masters swimmers who is also a dad to one of our youth swimmers. Good luck, Rhys! 👏

It got us thinking about just how many families we have swimming across our youth and Masters squads. For many of our Masters swimmers, watching their children swim has played a part in inspiring their own swimming journey, while others already had their own love of the sport.

Whatever brought them to the pool, it’s brilliant to see parents and children training, competing and inspiring each other. 💙

Swimming really is a family affair at our club! 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

🧠🍻 QUIZ NIGHT THIS SUNDAY! 🍻🧠

The school holidays are nearly over… so why not finish them off with a night out with friends! 🙌😂

Get a team together, come along, have a laugh and test your brains — although after six weeks of the kids being off school, the big question is… how much brain power have we actually got left?! 😂

💷 £3 per person

You don’t need to be a quiz expert — it’s all about getting together, having some fun and supporting the club at the same time. The more the merrier, so grab your friends and come and get involved!

🎟️ We’ll also have raffle tickets on sale with some amazing prizes to be won, so don’t miss out!

💷 Please bring cash if you can, as this means 100% of the money raised comes directly to the club.

🌟 Development Squad Shout-Out! 🌟

A fantastic weekend for four of our Development swimmers! 🏊‍♀️💪

🥉 Molly completed her first TriStar 1 season at the final Sharks Aquathlon, finishing an amazing 3rd overall in the series, after also taking on the Mini Beast of Bryn!

🌊 Nerys, Imogen & Alice competed at the British Life Saving Championships in Cornwall with their life-saving club,Aberavon, battling some rough sea conditions across Flags, Sprints, Swim, Board, Super/Golden Nipper, 1km Run and Taplin.

👏 All three made finals, with Alice & Nerys achieving top-10 finishes and Imogen top-20 finishes in fields of up to 65 competitors!

We see how hard these girls work in the pool every week, so it’s brilliant to see them putting their swimming, fitness and skills into action across different sports and competitions. 💙

Well done girls — fantastic achievements! 👏🌊🏊‍♀️

🏊‍♂️ 5:45AM AND THE WEEK IS UNDERWAY!

Another busy Masters session this morning, with plenty of metres banked before most people have started their day! 💪

Great to see swimmers returning from their summer holidays too — September is going to be busy!

We now have 45+ adults training with us each week, from those preparing for Channel swims, Ironman and triathlons to swimmers simply wanting to improve their fitness, technique and confidence in the water.

Sessions are designed and led by Head Coach Morgan Davies, Swim Wales & Welsh Triathlon qualified, with years of competitive swimming and triathlon experience.
