Teenager Seren Thomas set a women’s course record at the latest Cwmcarn Paragon 10ml time trial.

The 18-year-old Cams rider finished in a time of 22min 55sec on the club’s new R10/59 circuit.

Julie Hooper (pictured) was first para in 26:10, Sam Cook clocked 22:04 in the open TT category to beat his brother Harry by four seconds.

Joe Taylor was victor in the open road bike class in 24:10 with Nigel Pearce second in 25:08 and veteran Ross Porter third in 25:41.

Darran Carpenter and Darren Morgan recorded 23:36 in the open 2-up category.

🚴 Cwmcarn Paragon CC – Club 10 Cancellation Notice 🚴

Unfortunately, due to the forecasted inclement weather and in the interests of rider safety, tonight’s 10-mile Time Trial has been cancelled. 🌧️💨

While it’s disappointing to lose an evening of racing, rider safety must always come first.

Thank you for your understanding and support — we’ll see you all next week for hopefully better conditions and fast times! 🚴‍♂️💨

Cwmcarn Paragon TT report 28 May 2026

Steffan King set a 10ml record of 20min 13sec on Cwmcarn Paragon’s new R10/59 time trial course.

The 17-year-old beat the week-old best of Oliver Cadin in the open event by four seconds.

King was riding a TT bike. Finlay Storrie was second in 21:55 with Jon Vickery third in 22:57.

Lianne L***y was first in the women’s TT category in 25:40.

Julie Hooper and Matt O’Brien did a two-up time of 25:24.

Mark Rosser was quickest in the open road bike category in 24:12 with Marco Marletta runner-up in 25:41 with Matt Jameson third in 25:55.

Cwmcarn Paragon Time Trial 21 May 2026

Students Oliver Cadin and Helen Stevenson set records on Cwmcarn Paragon’s new course.

Cardiff University’s Cadin’s completed the 10ml circuit on the A467 in 20min 17sec to win the open category, 42 seconds ahead of Paragon stalwart Andy Butcher with Sam Cook in third in 21:56.

Prodigiously talented Cwmcarn teenager Stevenson, a student at Gwent Tertiary College, was victorious in the female category in 24:50.

Julie Hooper and Eddie Hissock were first in a two-up team trial in 24:56.
Sixteen seconds separated the top four finishers in the open road bike category with Jason Price fastest in 23:03.

Harry Cook was second in 23:11, Khalid Rahmani was third in 23:17 and Cardiff Ajax’s Jon Phipps fourth just two seconds slower.

Cwmcarn Paragon CC Time Trials are back this Thursday on our new TT course.

A perfect chance to test yourself, chase a PB, or just enjoy some hard midweek racing with the club.

Sign on opens: 5.45pm
Numbers out: 6.45pm
First rider off: 7.16pm

Whether you’re a regular tester or giving it a go for the first time, all are welcome.

Come down, pin a number on, and give it a proper go.

Tonight’s TT results
Congratulations to everyone who raced in the inaugural 10ml TT on our new course.

Helen Stevenson is female course record holder, Andy Butcher open and Julie Hooper Paralympic.

There was some storming rides and initial feedback about the course was positive.

More feedback is also welcome.
A turnout of 13 members was terrific and we hope you’ll race regularly.

Big thanks to the organisers, led by TT secretary Wayne Lewis, marshals and officials who volunteered to give up their time to allow the event to happen.

Without volunteers, the club would be nothing.

A HUGE thank you and well done to everyone that turned out today, for our Annual 100 Mile Reliability Ride. Great turn out, great people, sunshine and a safe ride = Perfect. Well done everyone 👏 Thank you also to those who took the photos and video.
