A quiet morning in Redz for Event 8 of our Summer Series and the
last for those in the Upper Tier.
With 8 players in the main tournament, it gave the TD an easy morning as far as the matches were concerned and as per the previous events, any losers moved into lower level competitions, to keep everyone involved throughout the morning.
Our main event final turned out to be the best of the 8 events, with Freddie getting off to a flyer, posting a 39 break in the opener, before then going on to hit a 28 at the start of the 2nd frame. For most players, young AND old, this would have perhaps been too much, but Behroz dug deep and produced one to the best single frame performances of the entire series, hitting back with breaks of 31 and 30 to take the frame and set up a fitting decider. It was nip and tuck in the final frame, but Freddie managed to accrue a lead of 26 points going into the colours and after a few safety exchanges, a couple more pots saw him over the line to take the title; his 2nd of the Summer series. Huge congratulations Freddie.
All are other sub-tournaments today were also best of 3 frames and saw Harvey taking the Plate with a 2 v 0 win over Evan, which included breaks of 32 and 30. In our Bowl final, Max L and Dan shared the opening 2 frames before Max L then went on to take the win and in our Jug final, Fiona took the win with a good performance against Caitlin, taking the spoils 2 v 0.
Our highest break of the morning was 39 by Freddie, but as mentioned Harvey hit a 32 and a 30 whilst Behroz posted his highest break ever at the Academy, with breaks of 31 and 30; well done to them all.
