Nic finished in🥈 place but the most important thing is that she learnt and we can improve to work on her weaknesses next time.

👉🏼 With our athletes we have really started to emphasise reflective feedback and how important it is to learn from every race. We like to do ‘two stars and a wish’ where riders are able to identify two things they did right in the event and one thing they wish to improve next time… by doing this, we can really make sure our athletes and learning and improving on the daily!

Endurance athletes! If you’re feeling incredible Tuesday and your legs can barely make full circles on Thursday, (and your health is otherwise good), you should definitely look into your carbohydrate intake.

It’s common for athletes consuming less than adequate carbohydrate intake to be all over the place in terms of performance consistency. Yes, fatigue happens, but to go from powerful to completely empty, is generally not how it presents.

If you’ve ever bonked, or “hit the wall,” you know the feeling of being glycogen depleted. The higher intensity efforts blow you out the back of a ride, small rollers burn the legs and you’re left with “one pace,” because accelerations just aren’t happening.

The beauty is, you can easily and quickly replenish carbohydrates over 24 hours. By paying attention to your daily intake in relation to your weekly training plan, you can plan to fuel the work optimally and overcome this inconsistency.

When it comes to making the break, attacking, sprinting, holding a high tempo, glycogen is key.

If you want to be consistent, pay attention to your carbohydrate intake, and your overall calorie intake. As for your carbohydrate of choice? That’s up to you. Personally, I love potatoes. When race terrain is technical, sports drinks and gels are convenient and quick. For longer training rides, you may like jelly sandwiches, bananas, or home-baked cookies.

Whatever you choose, choose enough of it.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!🍾

We are so proud of each and every one of our athletes AND coaches. They have achieved so much and it is admirable seeing all the hard work, dedication and sacrifice they have put into the sport. It has been a pleasure helping you achieve all your goals.

As of this year, we have riders now racing at all levels… from the WORLD TOUR peloton all the way to riders who are in it for the enjoyment. Yet they all share the same simplistic pleasure of riding a bike 🚲

It is time to take a moment and reflect on 2021. It has been an amazing year for Cobbled Coaching with huge developments for our coaching team and each and every one of our athletes reaching and achieving many of their goals. We are proud of every single one of you and respect the amount of dedication, sacrifice and hard work that is needed in our sport.

Of course, it has been difficult period of time with COVID-19 but we hope that everyone has had a happy and healthy Christmas time and we wish everyone the best and most successful 2022.
