AM soccer u14s welcomed KSH to Victoria park.

With 2 games to play, both teams knew a victory was the only result that would keep either team in the league title race. both teams locked in 2nd place, 3 points behind Dundee East.

This would be our 3rd encounter with a really strong KSH team about to move into u16s.
The previous 2 games ended in hard fought draws!

No surprise, we fought out another hard earned draw.

The grass pitch was of a typical winter variety, making it difficult for both teams to play good football. This match was going to come down to who wanted it more.

In the first half KSH were definitely more intense than us and should have been ahead by halftime. Some good opportunities missed, we were making lives hard for ourselves.

Halftime 0-0

After a robust halftime chat the AM girls lifted their game and applied themselves way more effectively.

With 10 mins played we had an opportunity to take the lead through a deserved penalty award, Emily having her heels clipped in the box. Scarlett had the courage to step up and take responsibility in this huge pressure game. A well struck penalty but crashed off the bar back into play.

Not to worry with another 5 mins played, a sustained period of pressure lead to a goal mouth scramble, leading to Albany slotting home to give us the lead.

KSH were not going to lie down, with good periods of play they equalised within 10 mins of the restart.

A tense end to the match, ending 1-1 and effectively ending both teams aspirations to win the league. Dundee East fought out a 4-3 win against Montrose to take the title.

Congratulations to Dundee East for winning this ultra competitive league.

Our girls can be super proud of their achievements this year. With 5 players still eligible to play u12, how they have applied themselves week in week out against much older players has been quite frankly amazing!

Well done girls, be proud of yourselves, I know the parents and coaches definitely are!

AM Soccer vs Auchtermuchty
Really good close encounter from start to finish lots of great communication on the park, a real battle in the centre and we fought hard throughout the whole match as a team. Both teams played good football considering the cold, wet weather. AM girls displayed great passages of play, didn’t give up! Well done girls, not the result you wanted, but the team worked hard and it was a pleasure to see real determination. Be proud of yourselves!

⭐️POTD Phoebe⭐️
In general Phoebe works very hard for the team, non stop running week in week out, her communicating and decision-making has been great. She scored over 50 goals this season. it doesn’t go unnoticed from the coaches and players.

U14s AM Soccer girls

Still in the hunt!

With 3 games to play and the leaders Dundee East 6 points ahead, we knew only a victory against Bayside was a must and hoped for a Dundee east slip up!

Bayside were coming into the game with confidence after a great win last week against Montrose.

Both teams started with energy, creating half chances at both ends!
With 10 played AM started to turn the screw and mounted a sustained period of pressure on Bayside. We had several chances to score but were missing that cutting edge to break the deadlock. We are always concerned when there are no goals to show for the hard work as the top 6 teams are more than capable of scoring at anytime!

Another attack on the 25 min mark allowed Emily to hit a shot towards goal, with the keeper scrambling the ball sneaked into the bottom corner…1-0 to AM

AM continued to scrap for midfield possession. With Albany stepping forward and hitting an attempted shot from distance, the ball spun high into the air, landing around 10 yards from the goal line. The high ball had the Bayside defence scrambling, Eden took one touch to control the ball, the second touch was to bang it past the Bayside keeper…2-0 taking us into halftime.

Good sides don’t lie down and a good Bayside team were going to fight back.

Bayside mounted some sustained pressure for the first 10 mins of the 2nd half, on another day some of the half chances would have been converted.

As the half went on we regained our composure and started looking for our killer goal. Scarlett had missed some good chances throughout the game but was determined to get her goal. With 10 mins remaining, Scarlett knocked the ball between the two central defenders creating a 1 on 1 with the Bayside keeper. No problem this time, Cooly finishing into the bottom right corner.

With Dundee East losing today, we are firmly back in league contention.

Massive game against the impressive KSH next week.
A must win for both teams if either are to have a chance of winning the league. Grab your popcorn it’s going to be a cracker!
So easy in these reports to single out the action leading to goals. Special mention has to go to our back line today. Our defence including GK were superb. 🙌

Xanthe was given a specific role to help her team today. She was simply massive for us. A great kid with a great attitude towards the meaning of team. 💪

AM Soccer vs bayside

Change of venue due to the weather, Both team started well, it was a real battle in the centre of the pitch, as the match went on, it started to open up with AM Soccer able to show their awareness of space on the field this allowed them to pass the ball quicker to create chances. The team communicated well and worked so hard for each other. Great goals scored from both teams.

⭐️POTD Lottie ⭐️🙌🏻🙌🏻 great communication on the park organising the defence, always positive towards the team, popping up with some key saves 👏🏻👏🏻

AM Soccer vs Carnoustie

A high intensity start to the match for AM . Good passing combinations, demonstrating good use of safe side, eyes up to find the space and releasing the ball. That meant they were able to create lots of chances, fine goalkeeping from Carnoustie. AM Soccer were able to score goals, with some great finishing on display.
Carnoustie did create chances however, AM Soccer girls really worked tirelessly hard to keep this to a minimum.

AM Soccer Girls U14s travelled across the bridge for a hotly anticipated top of the table clash with Dundee East 2012.

A 6 pointer today, with Dundee East top of the table 3 points ahead, we were determined to get something out of this game.

The game started at a high intensity, Dundee East were moving the ball well, creating 1-2 Half chances that we dealt with. As the half went on each team squandered decent chances to take the all important lead in this tight encounter. With around 25 played, the ref adjudged that our defender played a pass back to our keeper who picked the ball up. The resulting free kick from 8 yards out eventually found the net after a brave effort from Evie to save the close range shot. The Power of the shot left Evie with a sprained wrist, eventually leading to Evie having to leave the match injured.

Halftime

After a good chat at Halftime, the AM girls hit the 2nd half hard, mounting massive pressure on the impressive Dundee east backline. With 5 mins played of the 2nd half we found our equalizer. Eden picking the ball on the left, dribbled past 3 players to cooly score into the bottom corner.
Game on
Confidence was surging through the AM team, they could sense the opportunity to score more goals against Dundee East. A combination of last ditch defending and good Goalkeeping prevented us from adding to our tally.

The game had such a high tempo, credit to both teams. As the half went on the game was becoming really stretched, allowing both teams opportunities to score more goals. A goal was coming, unfortunately not for us! Dundee East took advantage of some defensive hesitancy to take the lead with 5 mins to play. Really hard one for the girls to take so late in the game.

A great game for the fans, Probably a draw would have been a fair result but well done to Dundee East for snatching the victory so late on.

🌟P'sOTD Albany Wood, Eden Kane and Charlie Trayner 🌟- So many strong performances today, but these 3 were superb! Worked so hard for the team, all demonstrating a huge will to win for their teammates.

Raith Rovers U12’s v AM Soccer U12’s 9 v 9
Tier 2

Raith Rovers welcomed us to play at Gallatown Park yesterday on a very cold and wet Saturday morning.
Both teams started off well, providing chances at each end.
The 2nd half, Raith Rovers continued to show strength and powered through with some good goals. AM girls worked hard to battle for the ball by presenting good football with fast passes and direct play to come back into the game.
Overall, AM girls tried hard in the match considering just playing back after the October break.

🌟POTD Heather 🌟

From the get go, Heather showed tremendous athleticism throughout. She demonstrated good decision making when releasing the ball.
Causing problems end to end for Raith Rovers. Heather continued to be a key team player , Well Done!

5 cup finals
The message given to the AM soccer U14 girls, prior to the first of our 5 league split games yesterday. With the 6 upper league teams separated by only 5 points, every game will be crucial in the run in.

AM soccer welcomed Faircity girls to a cold and windy Victoria park.

Our games against Faircity have been tight encounters, today was going to be no different.

First 10 minutes, both teams competed hard. As the half progressed AM soccer started to take hold of the game, creating some half chances but no goal to show for some sustained dominance. With 15 played, some great play allowed Eden from an angle to lash in a beautifully struck half volley, 1-0 AM.

As the half progressed Faircity started to gain momentum with a good period of pressure on us. Although our defence were soaking the pressure up, some quick thinking by the Faircity forward, allowed us to foul her just inside the box leading to a penalty. Although a brave effort from our keeper Evie, the pen was converted 1-1

The goal gave us a jolt, we again started to pressure Faircity. Some good forward play lead to a free kick award 25 yards from goal.
Emily stepped up and struck a beautiful free kick, sailing over the Faircity keeper. 2-1

Again we allowed Faircity to come back at us, leading to a second penalty award with 3 mins remaining of the half. The Faircity forward struck a really well taken penalty, only for Evie to make a tremendous save diving high to her left! What a save!

Halftime

We knew we had to try score a 3rd goal to give us some breathing space against a good Faircity team.
With 15 mins played, Eden threw in a lovely corner delivery, met on the volley by Erin to make it 3-1 to AM. Erin’s 4th goal in 2 weeks!

As the 2nd half progressed, Faircity were causing problems for us with sustained pressure. With 5 mins remaining, they scored to make it 3-2.

The girls held on to win 3-2..a bit rusty from the October break but a good hard earned victory for our girls

Evie again helped us by deputising as our Goalkeeper.
All day Evie made some tremendous saves, including a brilliant Penalty save to help her team win 3 points today! 😍🙌

Thank you MGR Tours, for making this possible.. a discussion amoungst coaches and parents, super fund raising efforts over the last 12 months secured our wonderful time in beautiful Lisbon.

AM Soccer girls had a busy few days, exploring, making memories and most importantly playing football.

Portugal was indeed a wonderful country to visit!
