William ‘Billy’ Hamilton
All of us at Auchterderran Golf Club are deeply saddened to hear of club legend, Hammy's passing. Although football was his first love, golf came a very close second and AGC always had a special place in his heart.
He became heavily involved in the affairs of the Club and served on various committee's, before becoming President in 1973. He was instrumental in the planning, funding and building of our clubhouse in 1976, and worked tirelessly to help the Club during the financial crisis of the early 1980’s.
Hammy was very popular with young people in the village. For many years he gave much of his time to managing and coaching various football teams, as well as working as a volunteer youth worker at Bowhill Youth Club.
In later years he acted as our starter and clubhouse caretaker, and even in his 80’s could be seen cycling up and down to the golf club.
Hammy was an immensely popular man, a gentleman, highly regarded, not just by us but across Cardenden as a whole.
His enthusiasm and love for Auchterderran Golf Club was there for all to see and we will miss him.
Our condolences go to his wife Annie and to Johnnie, Billy, Angela and all his family and friends at this difficult time.
Funeral Service will take place at Kirkcaldy Crematorium on Friday 28th August at 3pm
