HOSPICE DAY : 18 JULY
Our Hospice Day has been rescheduled to 18 July and Master Scoreboard has been updated accordingly.

The original bookings still stand but I appreciate that some players may not be available for the revised date, so ...

Please let me know if you/your team would still like to take part.

If you would prefer a different time, please let me know when would suit better and I'll move you if I can.

If you were not booked in for last week but would like to take part, please let me know, as there is scope to add 2 or 3 more teams.

In all cases, please email me at [email protected]
Thank you
David

HOSPICE DAY POSTPONED
Due to the weather, I regret to advise that tomorrow's event has been postponed, as it sadly was last year!
I have emailed members, so hopefully any wasted journeys will be limited, but I appreciate that not everyone will see this or related messages in time, so please check with your teams.
I will be in touch once a new date is confirmed and trust you will support the causes then! I apologise for any inconvenience this will have caused.

Kind regards
David

HOSPICE DAY : SATURDAY 13 JUNE
With this year's renewal just a week away, Muriel will be up tomorrow to hopefully sell some raffle tickets, especially to those that may not make the day!
All funds raised will be donated to Strathcarron & St Andrews Hospices & also CHAS (Children's Hospices Across Scotland) &
with both in mind, please note the following -

Muriel O'Hara will be at the clubhouse on Saturday 6th June to sell some raffle tickets for the Hospice Day.

There is also a very special prize, with money raised from it going to CHAS. For £10, you have the opportunity to win a round of golf for two people at any of the courses at Gleneagles. You will play along with a member and with a Celtic legend to make up the fourball.

So please bring lots of cash!

Thanks Muriel

HOSPICE DAY : SATURDAY 13 JUNE
Our annual Hospice Day is planned for the 13th June and thank you to those that have already said they'll take part. I hope to be in touch to confirm teams and times so that the initial Starter Sheet is published before Saturday.
If you'd like to take part, but have not already entered, please contact me on the email address below ASAP as entries may close after the weekend. The format is two, two player scrambles, so teams play in pairs with other teams and the entry fee is £60/team, with proceeds going to Strathcarron & St Andrews Hospices. A couple of teams might be a player or two short, so if you're not part of a "4" but would like to play, please let me know.

Last Saturday was the Tom Welsh Over 50s and congratulations to Graham Asher who won with 36 points. David Fotheringham had the best score of the day with 39, but fortunately/unfortunately for David, he's got a while to go before he reaches such an age :-)
Congratulations also to our secretary, Alan MacCuish, who won the Bob Pearson Trophy earlier this month, with an impressive 42 points, just edging out Eric Morton's 41!

Thank you

PREFERRED LIES & KNOCKOUTS
First of all, a member left a Nike 6 iron on the course so if you found it, please let me know and I'll put you in touch.

To confirm, preferred lies will no longer apply from Monday & the first gents championship qualifier is next Saturday - I'll be sending an email to members to clarify arrangements.

Finally, the knockout draws were run at lunchtime today and they have been published on Master Scoreboard (under "Results", "Knock-out Draws") - again, I will email entrants to clarify arrangements.

Thank you
David

PREFERRED LIES & MEMBERSHIP FEES
Congratulations to James Baxter, who won the Gray Trophy last Saturday, pipping Gary Carmichael on countback with 40 points, with several others just a point behind.

As the course is drying out, PREFERRED LIES WILL remain for this weekend but BE REMOVED FROM MONDAY 11th. I'll put up a notice, but many don't read them, so please remind your playing partners if you sense that they're going to try and take one!

Entries for the knockouts are now closed and the draw is planned for this weekend - those involved will be emailed in due course to confirm arrangements.

The deadline for membership fees has also passed, so thank you to those that have already paid, but if you haven't paid yet, please do so this week, as non-payers will be "resigned" next week, excluding them from the first qualifier on the 16th.

Finally, due to leave arrangements, sweep monies from last Wednesday onwards will not be credited to winners accounts until next week. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you
David

CAPTAIN TAM BOWERS OPENS OUR SEASON!
Last Saturday saw our first full competition and it was opened by our Captain for 2026, Thomas (Tam) Bowers, who hit the "first" shot of the season, splitting the fairway with a textbook swing, that I have shared in a photo sequence for your education :-)

Tam was partnered by his sons, Chris & Richard, with Eugene joining for a family photo, together with a gallery of well wishers!
All the best Tam, for your season ahead!

Thank you [email protected]

ps I thought I'd posted this earlier in the week and only just realised that I hadn't - sorry Tam!
