Culmstock Cricket Club We are based in the picturesque village of Culmstock in Mid Devon.

Our aim is to provide the local communities, through our facilities and an open and safe environment, the opportunity to play and enjoy both competitive and recreational cricket.

That’s a wrap on our junior section season review.

Thank you to every Player, Parent/Carer & coach who joined us for last night’s junior presentation evening. The occasion was full of pride, progress and pure Culmstock spirit.

Our volunteer coaches and officials deserve special recognition. Their commitment, knowledge and countless hours behind the scenes are the reason our young cricketers thrive.

We now stand at nearly 200 members - 118 juniors and 80 adults. A remarkable milestone for a small village club, powered by passion, teamwork and community.

The junior section is buzzing, growing and inspiring. The future at Culmstock Cricket Club isn’t just bright — it’s brilliant!

2026 has been a hugely successful year for our Culmstock Cricket Club under 14s, winning 7 out of our 10 matches. There has been so many stand out performances not only individually, but as a team, leading us to the most wins in the league!

Some stand outs of the year are scoring 180+ three times this season, most recently, our top score of 189 on Monday in the last game of the season. Being able to get to these totals is a great indicator of the strength in depth that we have grown in our team this year, which has developed throughout the season.

A highlight of the summer for me has been seeing contributions from every member of the team, not only in a cricketing sense, but the effort that has been put into games and training has been immense.

I would also like to say thank you and well done to all of the younger age groups who have helped us fill our teams when holidays have gotten in the way of fixtures, especially Jim and Max who have played many of our games and were even our top scores in our cup tie against Cullompton.

I am looking forward to seeing the development of these players into the under 15's and senior squads.

2026 was certainly a pretty warm one — in fact, it was the first time I have ever had to call off games because it was simply too hot!

But the cricket was on fire at times too.

The Under 12s had a brilliant first season playing “if you’re out, you’re out” cricket, losing just one league game all season. They also made it through to the quarter-finals of the cup, only just missing out against a very good Heathcoat side.

I think we should all give a huge round of applause to our brilliant Under 12s team of 2026!

The 2026 season has been a real step up year for our Culmstock Cricket Club u11s with most of the team having their first experience of hardball matches. Most of our matches are pairs matches with each pair batting for 4 overs, with the batting team losing 5 runs for each wicket lost. 16 different boys and girls represented the team this year, including many who were playing up at least one year.

Due to other teams not being able to raise a side in 3 games, we only played 6 matches this year. Whilst we only won one of these games, that certainly doesn’t tell the whole story with two of the losses going right down to the wire. We lost by only 8 runs in one of the losses and 4 in the other. In that last one, just one more wicket would have seen us win that match.

Despite the results the team always played with real enthusiasm and support for each other and it has been a pleasure to watch everyone develop through the season. I would also like to thank parents and supporters not only for getting the team to games, but also their unwavering support for the team.

Cricket Club U13 girls continue to thrive!

They havd a brilliant winter indoor league and a competitive summer of cricket.

The group’s progress is clear to see, with three players currently involved in Devon training.

A special mention to Sofie and Grace, who have also stepped into Devon internal fixtures after impressing throughout the winter programme.

A fantastic effort from the whole squad — the future looks very bright!

What a fantastic season for our U10 Cricket team!

The team finished with an excellent 4 wins and 2 losses, with the biggest success being the fantastic progress made throughout the season.

A total of 17 different players represented the club in matches, highlighting the strength and depth of the squad.

There has been a huge improvement in bowling technique and accuracy, with players growing in confidence and consistency as the season progressed.

The team has also shown fantastic spirit and sportsmanship, supporting one another and representing the club brilliantly both on and off the pitch.

There is lots of promise for next season, and we look forward to seeing the players continue to develop and, most importantly, enjoy their cricket.

Well done to everyone on a brilliant season!

Culmstock Cricket Club Under 9's were pushed out into England's pastures green of Tiverton, Sampford Peverall and Cullompton putting in some memorable performances on the cricket field.

3 festivals in May, June and July gave our very youngest cricketers their first taste of the game we love.

6 a side, quick games with lots of on field coaching and support from home and away coaches gave this season a wonderful feel.

A big thank you Jack Williams who helped organise the games and to all the parents who helped run the games.

Finally, a future Culmstock Star in the making Archer Haggert (aged 4) - making his debut for the U9s.

A record 17 children signed up to our 8th installment of the Dynamos cricket programme. They joined the hordes of Culmstock Cricket Club softballers to provide an electric Friday night atmosphere at the club.

Dynamos Cricket provides a fantastic next step for all those graduating from All Stars Cricket and the perfect introduction for all 8-11 year-olds new to the sport!

Dynamos is all about fun and provides children with a more social offer, focusing on developing the fundamental skills required to play cricket.

A huge thank you to all the coaches and helpers who make this such a massive success for the club.

Anyone who says cricket is a dying sport should come along on a Friday evening and see all the youngsters playing cricket.

Having watched the dynamos and softballers closely for a number of years whisper it softly but I think we could have a golden generation of cricketers on our hands at Culmstock. The ability and equally important the attitude of these young players is very exciting and I will be very keen to see how they develop as players and as a team.

They are a credit to the parents, coaches and the club.

Let's kick-off our review of this season's juniors with the All Stars!

The 10th edition of the Culmstock Cricket Club All Stars Cricket programme proved another outstanding success.

Designed to create a positive first experience in cricket for young children. The programme Focuses on basic skills such as batting, bowling, and fielding through fun activities.

It's wonderful to see how many of the youngsters here today at the different age levels started their cricket journey through the All Stars.

Twenty children aged between 4 to 8 joined the 2026 programme although on some occasions it felt nearer 40 as no children, brothers, sisters, cousins, waifs or strays were ever turned away.

A huge thank you to Archie Bennett, Isaac Bennett, Jack Palmer and Jack Williams who helped with the coaching duties in aid of their Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.

A massive thank you to Mick Pitts on what must have been a real busman's holiday as he finished a week teaching to be rewarded with a Friday evening of herding cats/coaching cricket.

Finally, a big thank you to Rob Lamyman who heads up the All Stars with fun, enthusiasm and sweet bribery.
