Listen to the music! 🎵
The springs on the Reformer are constantly telling a story about how you’re moving and where the movement is coming from. When the carriage glides smoothly, the springs create a steady, consistent sound. When they suddenly slacken, jolt, or rattle, they’re often revealing something about the quality of the movement.
Are you controlling the return of the carriage, or letting the springs pull you back? Are you moving from your centre, or compensating somewhere else? Is the movement flowing, or are there moments where control is lost?
The springs create their own soundtrack. When we learn to listen, they become another teacher in the room, offering immediate feedback about precision, control, connection, and flow.
Pilates isn’t just about what a movement looks like—it’s also about how it feels and, sometimes, how it sounds. The reformer springs can teach us to move with greater awareness, creating a smoother, more connected practice from the inside out.
