Haverfordwest Judo Club CLUB TIMES

Tuesday evenings in School Term Time:

7.30 - 8.30 14+ and seniors. Adult class 8-30 - 9.30

Welcome to Haverfordwest Judo Club I hope you find our web pages informative. The club is a non-profit organisation run by volunteers , our aim is to seek to be as inclusive as possible while promoting the sport of judo. We are registered with the Welsh Judo Association (W.J.A). The W.J.A is affiliated to the British Judo Association (B.J.A) which is the sport’s national body. The club provides i

ts membership with opportunities to receive both coaching and competition in the Olympic Sport of Judo. All coaching is by accredited B.J.A coaches who are trained in all aspects of the sport and have a wealth of experienced. The club has a strong junior membership with members from 7 up to 16 years old. For the younger element the emphasise is on fun and instilling the love of activity. The under eight year olds are encouraged to join the W.J.A Dragon scheme, this allows juniors to progress, through the awarding of stickers prior to them being old enough to take Judo Belt gradings. Older children are encouraged to take part in the non-competitive gradings system and competitions when available. The belt system for juniors has 18 levels, so there is plenty of opportunity for all to make steady progression regardless of competence. Senior members are also encouraged to participate in gradings and competition although there is no compulsion. Some seniors are parents who bought their children along, ‘had a go’ and got the ‘bug’.( Nb. the senior system is also non-competitive up to 1st Kyu brown belt)
Parents are also welcome to be volunteers. It is possible to participate in the sport as an official (time keeping and admin. etc.), without going through the rigours of being on the judo mat. Once again thank you for visiting our web pages - please enjoy the rest of the site. I do hope it will encourage you and your children to come along and ‘Give it a Go’. At Haverfordwest Judo Club you can be sure of a warm and friendly welcome.

At John’s funeral today, so many people came to say goodbye.
It was a moving reminder of how respected he was both in the judo community and in his local community. His kindness, dedication, and spirit touched us all and he will be deeply missed.
