Wadhurst U14 0️⃣ - 5️⃣ Crowhurst U14

Yesterday we were hosted by Wadhurst in our last game of the 25/26 campaign.

The boys have been in great form recently so with it being the last game of the season, we were aiming to finish on a high!

The Wadhurst pitch is somewhat on the small side - very small in fact. With this in mind we spoke to the boys about how we were going to adapt our game and make the best of it…..

The boys then started brightly and we looked up for it!

We were playing some crisp & high tempo football, and created a number of openings.
The boys were applying continual pressure and soon got their rewards to go 1 up. The lads carried on their good work and got a further two in the half.

Half time 3-0 Crows

After playing so well in the first half it took lads a while to settle back into that grove.
We were working hard and keeping things tight, but not looking after the ball quite as well.

As soon as we got the ball down and started playing, the goals came.
Two in the last 15mins meant we closed the game out comfortable winners.

Goals today -
Stan 🎯
Came in from the wing to finish off a move down the opposite flank-like all good wingers do!

Harley 🎯🎯
Both goals taken brilliantly, looked dangerous all day.

Archie H 🎯
Fantastic to see Archie pop up with a goal! Great finish too.

Jasper 🎯
Deserved his goal today. Determined run and a powerful finish.

Coaches players of the match-

Stan🏅
Another fine display from this young man. He has a confidence and swagger about him recently - it’s great to see.

Samuel🏅
A great centre half performance. Tackled well, won most headers, & never looked ruffled.

Another great game and excellent performance from the team.

Well done boys! 👏

The under 12s finished their league season this morning with a double header away to Wadhurst United.

The boys scored some good goals, frasers in particular was a lovely bit of skill followed by a strike into the bottom corner.

With 1 sub and playing 2 games was always going to be tough but the boys did well to come away with 6 points to finish the season in 2nd place 💙

Attention now turns to next Saturdays league cup final 🏆

Crowhurst U14 7️⃣- 3️⃣ Little Common U14

Yesterday we played our last home fixture of the season v familiar opponents Little Common. Having played them on 3 previous occasions in recent months (2 in the league and 1 in the cup), the boys were well prepared for the challenge ahead….

The pre game message was simple, use the space our large flat pitch affords, get the ball down & move it qu**ky in the final 3rd… and also… enjoy it!

Yet again we got off to a great start. Within 5 mins we were able to take the lead. Louie pounced on a loose ball and fed Riley down the left, he jinked past the oncoming defender then finished across the keeper with his left foot into the bottom right corner.

In terms of how we start games, we seem to have turned a bit of a corner. Instead of the lethargic starts we were prone too early on in the season - we are now starting brightly, often taking the lead in games.

Our second also came down our left. Riley & Harley exchanging a couple of lovely one-twos that led to Harley driving at goal near the byline, he zipped it across the goalmouth which a Common defender unluckily put into his own net.

Our 3rd was another bit of great football. This time down our right flank and involving Jasper & Cal. They similarly exchanged passes and Jasper drove into the box and pulled it back for Cal to slot home.

Our 4th was all about the pass! Riley received the ball with his back to goal and in one fluid movement turned and played a sublime pass with the outside of his foot (trivela) right in-between the Common centre backs and into Callums path. He again coolly finished the move off.

All four of our opening goals were a product of fast flowing & fluid passing football 👏

We go into half time 4-2 up.

Whilst we did play some great football, Common have good attacking players & always looked a threat on the break. So our halftime team talk focused just as much on tightening things up at the back as it did on our attacking play.

The second half continued much the same as the first. We were mainly in control but Common always posing a threat.

We scored a further 3 goals in the second half.

Cal got the first after he pounced on a mistake in the box by a Common defender. He then turned provider for the 6th & 7th. On both occasions running at the defenders and laying it on for a teammate. It was great to see Stan get the last one, he made a great run across his defender to get on the end of Cals whipped cross.

Scorers today-
Riley 🎯
Callum 🎯🎯🎯
Harley 🎯
Stan 🎯

Our coaches players of the match-

🏅Stan
Stan was everywhere today! He was non stop up and down the right wing- not easy given how warm it ended up being. Cleaver going forward and also tracked back when necessary. Chuffed that he got himself on the scoresheet too.

🏅 Jasper
Second week in a row for young man. I have always said that when his confidence is high and he is ‘on it’, he is borderline unplayable.
Brilliant going forward & often starting the team’s attacks.

Little mention for Cal. It’s not often you score 3 and get 2 assists and then don’t get the man of the match award but we felt the other lads deserved their recognition on the day.

Another fine attacking display from the boys & lots of effort across the pitch from the whole team today 👊🏼

A great way to sign off our campaign at home 💪

Our u12s travelled to goudhurst yesterday evening for the semi final of the Wayne Russell Cup.

The boys found themselves a goal down quickly but recovered well playing some good football throughout.

They scored some good team goals and took their chances well.

They progress into the final where they will face Little Common.

Man of the match went to Tyler who opened the scoring for us and put in a brilliant performance ⚽️ 💙

The under 12s hosted Hastings Utd this morning.

Unlike recent weeks the boys started the game slowly, hastings being the better of the 2 sides in the opening phase. A brilliant save from Oscar, followed by quick reactions from harry to stop the ball crossing the line kept the score level.

Hastings continued to be the better side and took the lead shortly after. The best chance of the half for us fell to ronnie but on his weak foot couldn't find the target.

The 2nd half saw Hastings find a second goal when a cross flashed across the goal to find their winger unmarked at the back post to tap home.

This seemed to wake the boys massively who then started to control things. With 15 minutes left a ball in behind was latched onto by Ronnie who slotted past the onrushing keeper. 1 - 2

Shortly after ronnie was in behind again, this time he held the ball up well and found josh on the edge of the box and after some neat footwork a left footed strike hit the back of the net! 2 - 2

Minutes from the end a quickly taken free kick by harry saw ronnie in behind the defence again and he unselfishly squared for jedi to slide the ball home! 3 - 2

The boys managed to see out the last moments of a roller coaster game!

Man of the match today was awarded to Harry and Tyler who were both brilliant at the back throughout, stopping numerous attacks and blocking alot of shots in the box in the 2nd half 👏

The boys vote went to ronnie who scored to start the fight back and then set up the other 2 goals to seal the 3 points 👏

Crowhurst U14s 6-1 Langton Green U14s

Today we were at home v current 2nd place in the league- Langton Green.

Crowhurst rec was looking mighty fine in the sunshine today😎

The pitch was looking great, the grass had been freshly cut, and the lines were looking sharp.

The scene was set for a great game of football….

Having played Langton Green recently we knew we were facing a quality side that are also big, strong, & physical.

During the warm up we asked the boys to approach the start of this game slightly differently. We wanted to keep compact, disciplined, and then grow into the game.

To our surprise the boys seemed to take this on board. 🙌🏼😂🤷🏼‍♂️

Right from the off the boys looked calm. We probably had the better of the opening exchanges and seemed to be looking after the ball well.

Around midway through the first half we got ourselves in the lead. Cal had started sharply and got the reward for his early endeavours.
Not long after Harley pounced on a loose ball to nick it past an oncoming LG defender then burst into the box and finished with the outside of his right foot past the keepers left hand. You could argue he could/should have used his left foot but we didn’t mind!
2-0 crows.

As the half moved on the majority of football was played in the LG half but when they did get forward. Our defence was looking organised and were able to deal with most of what came their way.
One occasion LG did manage to break through and engineer a clear cut chance, big Pete came rushing out and made a top 1v1 save 🧤
A particular highlight of the half was how we were playing down the left. Louie, Harley, Riley, & Cal all linking up very well.

Half time.

Our half time team talk very straightforward. We simply asked the boys to keep playing the way they had been 🙌🏼

The lads duly obliged.

Our lead was further extended when Harley cut in from the left and drove past the LG fullback then cleverly finished low into the far corner. 👏

At this point you could feel the LG resistance wain…

I think a big factor in this was how our midfield was dominating the game. Riley was consistently picking up the ball and driving at them. Isaac was on it today and kept the game ticking over with some clever passes & bravely tackled when he needed too. Similarly Brody was also having a good game. His positioning was spot on and when he got the ball showed a calm & cool head to nearly always find a teammate. I might add that although Stan didn’t get as far forward as Harley, he worked hard up and down the wing all game and was often seen helping our fullback.

Cal then added a fourth after making a trademark run and coolly slotting past the keeper.

LG did mount a brief comeback getting a goal back but that didn’t affect the lads morale.

In the last 3rd of the match we added a 5th & 6th.

Jasper who by this time had moved over to left back, started a move and then overlapped and picked up a blocked shot and tucked it away. A just reward for continuing his run.
Our last came courtesy of Louie. Cal had beaten his man and taken a shot that looked destined for goal, Louie who was now playing on the right wing, made sure at the far post.

Final score 6-1 to the Crows.

Goals today from-
Cal 🎯🎯
Harley🎯🎯
Jasper 🎯
Louie 🎯

Coaches MOM-
🏅 Brody.
Brode was excellent today. He dovetailed brilliantly with Isaac, worked hard, and played some lovely football.

🏅Harley.
This lad is on somewhat of current hot-steak! Four goals last week,& another two today🔥. What has impressed us as much as his goals has been his attitude. He’s now becoming a bit of a leader on the pitch. Great to hear him organising & supporting his teammates. 👊🏼

Aaron and I were just so impressed with the lads today. If I had to pick one word that sums up today’s performance it would be - composed.
We showed composure when on the ball, when defending, then also when going forward and in our finishing.

Another fine game from the lads ☺️👏🔥
Let’s keep it going!

Crowhurst U14s 8-3 Little Common U14s

Yesterday we hosted Little Common at Crowhurst Rec in what feels like months since we played a home game.

Coming off the back of cup final disappointment midweek, it was a test for the boys to see how they would react and if they could pick themselves up…..

Before the game our message was clear;
As always we expect maximum effort, but let’s go out there and play without pressure and have some fun.
And boy did they do that!

The boys were on fire and flew out the traps! Within 10 minutes we were 3-0 up.
Harley opened the scoring with a quickly taken left footed finish that found the bottom corner. He was quickly on the scoresheet again with another bottom corner finish - this time with his right foot.
Our third came courtesy of a fantastic break down the right hand side, Jasper burst forward and delivered a fantastic cross that found Cal in the box who applied a beautiful volleyed finish.

It was again the Crows on the scoresheet before half time. Jasper - who had been excellent in the first half beat his marker and after cutting inside struck it across the keeper and into the far corner.

Half time 4-0 crows.

The second half was no less impressive. Yes Little common managed to get a few themselves. But our great football kept on coming.

Our 5th & 6th goals represented the best individual and best team goals of the day.

Riley picking the ball up midway in the opposition half, beat not 1 or 2, but 3 Common players before driving into the left edge of the area and finishing from a tight angle into the top corner. Fantastic solo goal and with his ‘weak’ foot!

He was also involved in our 6th. The ball was fired into Cal who turned and back-heeled it into Riley’s path, he took one touch to cut in from the right and then lay it off to Harley who was arriving in from the left wing. In composed fashion he trapped the ball sending the defender the wrong way, opened his body up and slotted a trademark Morgan’s finish back in the opposite corner. Hattrick.
This was our lads attacking at their best. Quick, incisive, and free flowing.

The 7th was somewhat fortunate, Harley - now full of confidence struck a long range shot that really should have been saved but somehow ended up bouncing through the Common keeper.
Cal rounded off the scoring, after reviving a neat pass from Isaac, swivelled in the box and found the bottom corner with his left foot.

This was right up there with the best I have seen our lads play, full of confidence and freedom. Some of the attacking moves and finishing was just brilliant to watch!

Goals today from-
Harley 🎯🎯🎯🎯
Cal 🎯🎯
Jasper 🎯
Riley 🎯

Aaron and I usually pick a coaches player of the match each, but we could t split 2 players today so we have chosen 3.

🏅- Dylan
Just loves defending! Dealt with so many Common attacks . You think you’ve beaten him then bam- he tackles you!
🏅- Harley
Was just a day where most of what he did turned to gold. Came away with 4 goals and importantly got the team off to a great start.
🏅- Riley
A joy to watch toady. Worked hard, passed when he should have, and topped it off with a superb goal.

What a way to bounce back after cup final heart break just a few days before.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching them express themselves and play some wonderful football.

Excellent stuff boys 👏👏
