What a great video of club memories prepared by club member, Jimmy Chen. It covers a period from 2019 right up to May 2026, features several of our Liverpool League teams as well as many who participated in the North Liverpool 2 x 2 League and the more recent Marine Mini League. Great music too! Well worth watching.

The same weekend that the International Table Tennis Federation staged the finals of the World Team Table Tennis Tournament (a mega-feast of top class, thrilling, table tennis) the Liverpool & District Table Tennis League staged the first part of the Bill Fawley Liverpool Closed Table Tennis Tournament, with several of the club's members taking part. In the Ladies Singles, Clare Peers & Tereza Kopfova fought their way through to the final and will appear on Finals Night (13 May at Crosby High) ensuring that a BSM player will be crowned Ladies Champion. The Club also tasted success in the Division 4 singles, where James Sullivan came through the field to take the title. Other club members who took part in various events were, Colin Turner, Matty Wilson, Mehdi Eskoroochi, Marcin Bytnar, Daniel Cygan, Kai Morgan, Andrew Armstrong and Gwyn Powell-Wilde.

It is also worth mentioning former members Dermot & Ronan Tierney. 12 year-old Ronan won the Div 2 singles title, ousting his Dad in the final!

If you want to watch more top class table tennis this week then get yourself along to Crosby High School on Wednesday evening (13th May) for Finals Night.

Here's a few pictures both from the weekend and of the club's participants.

The last 3 matches for the club's teams in the 2025/26 season of the Liverpool & District Table Tennis League were played this week.

In Div 2 the B Team brought in Mehdi Eskoroochi as a sub for their final encounter, his two wins together with 2 from team regular Colin Mitchell and 1 for Dave Stoddern earned a draw against Wavertree Labour A. This leaves the team second to bottom in the table, but it could be enough for them to escape relegation!

In Div 4, the Divisional Cup winners BSM D faced Crosby High F in their final encounter of the season. James Sullivan and Danny Every were again on-song for BSM, each winning both of their singles. But neither Amir Norouzzi nor Charlie King could, on this occasion, help with scoreline. Somehow, both doubles then slipped away leaving the match score at 6:4 in favour of the Crosby side and a mid-table finish for BSM at the end of a mixed season in which it seemed that a second spot finish was possible.

In Div 5 the seniors of BSM F completed their season with a visit to Harold House. With 3 regulars missing from their line-up, team captain Keith Hardman was forced to bring himself into the team for this one, his first league match for 2 1/2 years following from his hand surgery! It was a tough return for Keith, although he did pick up 1 game. Bernard Cooney, who normally only plays in the doubles, was also brought in and showed real steel picking up a singles win and contributing to a very good doubles win partnering with Keith. A singles win for Bob Wolstenholme completed the scoring for BSM, the result 7:3 in favour of the home side.

That looks like the end of another table tennis season. The results for all of the club's teams can be found on the club website. Our pictures this week feature players from all 3 of this weeks matches.

This week the BSM 1st team brought their 2025/26 season in the Liverpool & District 1st Division to a conclusion, playing their final two matches. First up, they were due to play Harold House on Monday. But on the day of the match the Harold House team didn’t appear! It transpired that they were unable to field a team and so conceded the full 10 points. This meant that the BSM team had a half chance to sn**ch third place in the division if they could beat the Maghull 1st team, who held that spot, in their final match on Wednesday. Maghull brought in their two strongest players for this one, Ritchie Venner & Neil Pickard, with BSM fielding Colin Turner, Clare Peers and Barry Elliott. But, on the day, Barry had to withdraw, due to a severe bout of flu, and captain Colin was unable to find a first division quality player who could substitute at this last minute. The BSM team therefore being forced to play with just two players. But what a match it was! An outstanding evening for Clare who took all 3 of her singles with everyone needing a fifth game decider. Nerves of steel! However, it wasn’t quite enough, Maghull going on to win the match 7:3, taking 3rd place and leaving the BSM team 4th. Nevertheless, an excellent season for Captain Colin and his team. Colin and Clare are the focus of our pictures this week. We are truly grateful to the Ray Hibbs Photographic Studio for another season of great photography and pictures.

What a performance and end to the season as Club grab Forrest Cup in the Liverpool & District Table Tennis League.

Being in the Final of the Division 4 Divisional Cup - The Forrest Cup - was a bonus end to a somewhat mixed season for Bath Street Marine D and Sefton Park A, but both teams were well worthy of their place in the Final. And both were determined to maximise the opportunity.

With the Easter holidays affecting the match schedule just 4 games were played in this final main week of the Liverpool & District Table Tennis League involving the club’s teams.

In Div 1 the BSM 1st team secured fourth spot in the division, providing they gain 3 points from their outstanding 2 fixtures, with an excellent 8:2 win over Crosby High C. Captain, Colin Turner and Matthew Wilson, subbing from the A Team, took maximums in this one.

Just one match in Div 2 and that was the clash between the two top teams, BSM A and Cadwa 1st. And what a terrific match this was, with four sets needing a fifth end decider. The outstanding player though was junior, Ronan Tierney, who surely must be one of the most improved players over the whole league this season? He won all three of his singles sets albeit that Matt Wilson pushed him all the way to deep into the fifth end. Matt also inflicted a rare defeat on Ronan’s Dad, Dermot. In the end though, it was the Cadwa side who came out on top, 6:4, showing exactly how they have prised the top spot in the division away from the BSM team, who finish second. This match was a very fitting end to the Div 2 season, with the two best teams facing off for the top spot.

In Div 3 the C Team finally lifted themselves from the foot of the table by securing 4 points against Waterloo & Bootle A. Mehdi Eskoroochi showed that he is a class act at this level taking all 3 of his singles. The match could so easily have been a draw had the doubles not slipped away in the fifth end.

The E Team in Div 4 ended their season with a visit to play Maghull G Junior who have taken top spot in the division by storm. There were some really good, close sets in this but the BSM boys just simply didn’t get the breaks. The one set that did fall to them was a real fighting performance won by Ritchie Jones at 19:17 in the fifth!

The results for all teams can be found on the club website. As it is the last full week of the season our pictures cover the squads of all of the teams .
