Good evening All

Cropwell played Chilwell today on the Sheldon field and it was a lovely afternoon with a early start of 1.30pm.

Both captains walked out to the middle for the toss. Captain for the day Harry Britton looked ready for the battle ahead he was ready to show Chilwell what he was made of.

Chilwell won the toss and chose to bat. They started slowly with Gareth Guy and Joe Shinn bowling like I have never seen before 16 off 8 overs. Harry Woodward took a 3 wicket maiden as well!! Cropwell bowled out Chilwell in the 28th over for 143.

So it was in for a quick tea and Cropwell went out to bat. Sam Sam Pudding Hinton and Seth Carroll opening the batting and it wasn't long before they came back to the pavillion. Harry Britton put on 29 and Cropwell had players get a duck. It was down to James Lockwood and Joe Shinn to make the best of a bad show. But they batted very well and moved the score along and it was down to 14 needed off the last over. James Lockwood hit a 4 off the very last ball to record another Cropwell win, 4 out of 4. The last wicket stand off 68 is the highest last wicket stand the club has seen.
Now I have two men of the match. Harry Woodward for taking 3 wickets in a over and James Lockwood for his 41 not out.
Well done guys it was great to watch from the score box today and thank you to all that helped m score. Lets hope we have a great seaon.

Good evening all,

Cropwell hosted West Bridgford Legion down at the Sheldon field today. Cropwell won the toss and choose to bowl.

Cropwell started off strong and machine was bowling like his name sake. Getting 2 wickets in the first over with a possible of a 3rd. We nearly had to ring Joe Litch and halt his weight watchers weekend away for some fire extinguishers as machine was on fire. 4 over , 3 wickets , 3 maidens and 1 run, well bowled machine. Shinny was trying to back him up at the opposite end and grabbed a wicket himself but was soon taken off after a tantrum (pink cap was acquired). Tantrum believed to be as Eve turned up in his favourite pair on heels. Moving on Max Lockwood grabbed a wicket on only his second game for the club. ollie Gauld managed to grab 3 wickets for 15 and was in a great mood after he saved money from his cancelled flights to turkey (HAHA). Harry Woodward and Lockie bowled well and kept it tight both unlucky not to grab a wicket themselves. Ethan came on towards the end and had a dolly dropped by Neil king who went down in instalments, I think he might still be down the field getting up. Cropwell bowled very well and on the end West B were all out for 78.

Teas were had and enjoyed all round thanks to the Lichfield’s catering and Cropwell went into bat with Sam Hinton (Personal) and Craig white. Craig smashed the ball around and picked up 31(ish) before being called in to retire by the captain. Sam Hinton hit some great shots and was unlucky not to score more and was bowled for 25. Ethan wright went in and scored runs off everywhere l bar the middle of his bat. Ethan also refused to take some singles as he wanted all the glory however it was left to captain of the day super Sam Brown who hit a lovely four to win the match for Cropwell.

Great day all round and well chipped in by everyone except Pete Walton. First home game of the season and a win to start us off. Thanks everyone , Up the Well

Good evening All

Today Cropwell played away at Upton a team we play every year and a great team to play.

Both captains went out to the middle for the toss. Sam Brown being Cropwell captain for the day.

Cropwell won the toss and chose to bat.

In went Pete Walton and Craig White. It was a difficult start with Craig, Ethan Wright and James Spencer all going for 4. It was down to Sam Brown to take the bull by the horns, so to speak and he retired on 50. Pete Walton was out for 36 and Harry Britton was 3rd top scorer with 29. In the end Cropwell ended up on 172 off 32 overs.

It was in for Tea well no tea and Upton went out to bat. They scored slowly and Cropwell pegged them back and they found it hard to score. There was some great bowling, Joe Shinn and Chris Moore both taking 3 wickets each. The bowling was spot on and Cropwell held Upton to 137. Great start to the season with a win and everyone was happy to win.

Upton once again made us feel very welcome and they are a good bunch.

Kind regards

Cheers

Fantastic tour of Blackpool. Big thank you to Thornton Cleveleys CC and Fylde Cricket Club - Poulton for hosting us. All a bit tired today!!!

01/05/2026

’Twas the night before cricket, in Cropwell so fair,
Not a bat was left silent, nor kit bag laid bare.
The whites were all folded and packed up with care,
In hopes that Blackpool soon would see them all there.
The players were buzzing, no chance they’d sleep tight,
For tour tales and cricket danced through minds all night.
With pints at the ready and laughter in flow,
They plotted their innings, both steady and slow.
There’s Neil King with his wisdom, a skipper so bold,
Who’d marshal the troops like the greats of old.
And Sam Brown with a cover drive smooth as the sea,
Dreamed of carving boundaries with elegant glee.
Young Joe Shinn, full of fire, boots laced up just right,
Was ready to battle from morning till night.
While Joe Litchfield, calm-headed, precise with the ball,
Planned wickets aplenty—he’d trouble them all.
And don’t forget Craig White, with a grin ear to ear,
A veteran of tours and a lover of beer.
He’d rally the lads with a story or two,
Of matches half-won (and a few they just blew).
Their rivals awaited by the seaside bright,
Thornton Cleveleys, prepared for a fight.
On wickets wind-swept with a salty sea breeze,
Where catches get tricky and bowlers can tease.
The minibus packed, engines ready to roar,
With snacks stuffed in bags and a crate or four more.
From Cropwell they’d travel with banter and song,
A journey of legends—though not very long.
So up on the coast where the gulls cry out loud,
The cricket would echo before a proud crowd.
And win, lose, or draw, one thing would be true—
The tour would be chaos… as Cropwell tours do.
Happy cricket to all, and to all a good tour! 🏏
