⛳️ CROOK GOLF CLUB – WEEKLY ROUND-UP ⛳️

Another busy week at Crook, with plenty to celebrate across the club.

🏆 David Gill Memorial Open
Congratulations to Alan Race & Paul Race, winners of the 2026 David Gill Memorial Open with an excellent 43 points! 👏🏆

💙 Billy Hogarth Memorial Day
A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Billy Hogarth Memorial Day, along with everyone who made kind donations and donated prizes. On behalf of Billy’s family, Anita and the organisers, thank you for helping make the day such a fitting tribute.

🏌️ NERGA/Rabbits
Our final fixture of the season took place at Richmond, with Crook finishing 7th on the day. Tony Johnson was our leading scorer with a very good 34 points.

Crook finishes the season 5th out of 9 clubs, with Martin Taylor earning our place in the singles finals after an excellent season.

There were some fantastic individual performances throughout the campaign, with Martin averaging 32.8 points, Alex Hardie 30.75 and George Longthorn 30.5. Crook also recorded the highest 8-card and 7-card scores of the season — 282 and 253 at Teesside.

A huge thank you to everyone who represented Crook throughout the season. 👏

🏆 A FANTASTIC ACHIEVEMENT FOR OUR LADIES! 🏆

We are delighted to share some fantastic news from the Crook Golf Club ladies' section! ⛳️💙💛

Huge congratulations to Margaret Kelly & Lynne Littlejohns, who yesterday won the R&A Coronation Foursomes Area Final at Durham City Golf Club with an outstanding 43 points! 👏👏

Their fantastic performance sees them qualify for the Grand Final at the Eden Course, St Andrews on 21st September — what an achievement! 🏆⛳️

To represent Crook Golf Club at such a prestigious venue is something both Margaret and Lynne can be incredibly proud of.

Everyone at Crook wishes them the very best of luck at St Andrews. We’ll be following their progress and cheering them on! 💙💛

It’s been another busy week at Crook Golf Club, with plenty to celebrate and a few important updates from around the club.

🏆 THURSDAY NIGHT SUMMER LEAGUE

Congratulations to Paul Ridley, winner of Week 16 of the Thursday Night Summer League with an excellent 23 points! 👏

A fantastic 38 players took part this week — thank you to everyone for the continued support of the league. It’s been brilliant to see such a great turnout throughout the season.

Congratulations to Sean Lauder and David Hughes, winners of the 2026 Hayton & Lamb Trophy with an impressive 44 points! 👏⛳

The final fixture of the season takes place this Saturday 22nd August at Richmond Golf Club.

🌧️ A MUCH-WELCOMED DROP OF RAIN!

After what feels like a long wait, we finally got some much-needed rain this week. Unfortunately, the amount that arrived meant the course had to be closed, but the rain will certainly be welcomed by the course and hopefully give the ground a much-needed boost. 🌧️🌱

🏫 OUR JUNIORS

A huge well done once again to our two junior members selected for the school golf team, as featured on the page yesterday. 👏

It’s fantastic to see our juniors representing their schools and continuing to develop their golf. They are a great example of the future of Crook Golf Club. ⛳👏

❤️ BILLY HOGARTH MEMORIAL TROPHY

Today sees the first 14-hole Billy Hogarth Memorial Trophy, held in memory of Billy, who we sadly lost recently.

Billy was a hugely well-loved and respected member of Crook Golf Club, and it is fitting that an event bearing his name will now become an annual fixture at the club.

We hope today provides an opportunity for members to remember Billy, celebrate his life and enjoy the game he loved. ❤️⛳

We look forward to seeing everyone around the club and wish all our players the very best for the week ahead.

🏆 A Fantastic Achievement for Crook Golf Club! ⛳️

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of two of our young members, Jake Hamilton and Oliver Kyle, who recently represented their schools at the England Schools Team Finals.

Both boys performed brilliantly on the national stage, with Jake taking 1st place — an outstanding achievement and one that everyone at Crook Golf Club can be extremely proud of! 👏🏆

It was fantastic to see Jake and Oliver representing Crook Golf Club in their club shirts, kindly provided by the club, and pictured alongside our Captain Tony Clark.

A huge congratulations to both boys, and to everyone who has supported them along the way.

The future looks very bright for our junior section! 💙💛⛳️

⛳️ Crook Golf Club – Weekly Round-Up ⛳️

Another busy week at Crook, with plenty to celebrate across our teams and competitions.

🏌️ NERGA Inters Team
The Inters travelled to Brancepeth for their final league fixture, finishing an excellent 2nd on the day. Six Crook players scored 30+ points, led by Sean Lauder with 35.

The result leaves Crook in 3rd place overall, narrowly missing out on finals day by just 2 points. A fantastic campaign which included two league victories, while Paul Bewley also took individual honours at South Shields.

John Mason finishes as our leading player in the best-three-scores competition and will represent Crook at Romanby in the individual finals next month. Good luck, John! 👏

A huge thank you to everyone who represented the club throughout the season and to those who helped make the campaign such an enjoyable one.

🏆 Nett Club Champion
Congratulations to Mark Parvin, our 2026 Nett Club Champion, who produced an outstanding 6-under-par 64 to equal the course record, with a remarkable nett 62. Six birdies and twelve pars — superb golf! 👏👏

🏌️‍♂️ Thursday Night Summer League
Congratulations to Alan Richardson, winner of Week 15 with an excellent 22 points. Another fantastic turnout with 38 players taking part.

A big thank you to everyone continuing to support the Summer League.

As always, our greenkeeping team continue to work incredibly hard in challenging dry conditions, keeping the course in the best possible condition.

⛳️ Crook Golf Club – Weekly Round-Up ⛳️

Another busy and successful week at Crook Golf Club, with plenty happening both on and off the course.

🏆 Congratulations to Jimmy Warnett, who successfully defended his title to become our 2026 Club Champion for the second consecutive year. A fantastic achievement—well played to Jimmy and everyone who took part.

👏 Congratulations also to Kane Ridley, winner of Week 14 of our Thursday Night Summer League, with an excellent 22 points. Once again, another fantastic turnout with 43 players taking part.

🏅 Well done to Alan Richardson (Division 1) and Jamie Plews (Division 2), winners of the Fairway Golf & Print Medal Qualifier No. 3. Great scoring from both players.

🏌️ Our NERGA/Rabbits Team travelled to Catterick for the penultimate league fixture. In difficult scoring conditions with firm fairways and a strong wind, Crook finished 5th on the day, with Alex Hardie leading the way with an impressive 34 points. Thank you to everyone who represented the club throughout the season, with one final fixture remaining at Richmond later this month.

💪 Our North Durham League Team rounded off the season in style with an excellent 8–6 away victory at Heworth, securing a very respectable 4th place finish in the league. Congratulations to everyone who represented Crook throughout the campaign.

👏 Our Senior Team were beaten by a strong Seaham side this week. Thank you to all of our seniors for their continued commitment and support.

🌱 The course continues to recover well following the recent damage caused by off-road bikes, and our greenkeeping team are doing a tremendous job in challenging conditions. Despite the prolonged dry weather, the greens remain in excellent condition—a real credit to the hard work and dedication of the staff.

⛳ Another Busy Week at Crook Golf Club! ⛳

It's been another fantastic week around the club, with plenty of golf, great competition and another excellent turnout from our members.

🏌️ Thursday Summer League saw another superb turnout, with 41 players taking part. Congratulations to Peter Ainsworth, who claimed Week 13 with an excellent 23 points.

🤝 Our North Durham League Team completed their final home fixture of the season with a hard-fought 7-7 draw. Thank you to everyone who has represented the club throughout the campaign.

🏆 Captain's Weekend was a huge success, with a fantastic atmosphere from start to finish. Congratulations to Andrew Dolphin and David Snow, who won the Captain's Day competition with an outstanding 47 points.

⛳ The weekend also produced two holes-in-one, with Captain Tony Clark making the perfect start to the celebrations on Friday evening before Brian Lowe added another ace during Sunday's competition. Congratulations to both players on a remarkable achievement.

📰 Tony's incredible start to Captain's Weekend even made the Northern Echo, providing fantastic publicity for both him and Crook Golf Club.

Unfortunately, the week also ended on a disappointing note after further damage was caused to the course by e-bikes and motorbikes. Our greenkeeping team works tirelessly to present the course in excellent condition for members and visitors alike, and we'd ask everyone to respect the course and help us protect this fantastic community facility.

As always, thank you to our members, volunteers, staff and greenkeepers for everything they do. We look forward to another busy week at Crook Golf Club.
