Auchterarder Primrose Under 17s

Auchterarder Primrose Under 17s Under 17 football team playing in the Fife league.

25/06/2022

The sun shone in Crieff today for our 2nd annual fixture against the hosts in memory of their player Matthew Taylor.

In a hard fought game we came out on top thanks to goals from Jack Ellison, Ethan Wheatley and Matthew Sinclair giving us a 3-1 win.
The last few minutes made slightly more comfortable thanks to a great penalty save from Elliott Ramsay.
Well done to Calum Leadbeatter for being chosen as the refs player of the match.

Although our team won't compete competitively next season at Under 18 level we still hope we can retain this annual fixture to help keep Matthews memory alive.

Thanks alot to Robin Mitchell for organising the match, for Rab the ref who donated his match fee to Matthews headstone fund and to all the supporters who came along.

The end of an era today...
The boys putting in a fighting performance to come away with a goalless draw in Dunfermline.
The result was made more impressive as we were reduced to 10 men in the opening minutes with our keeper shown a straight red for the slightest touch outside the box on a Duloch striker.
Hugely disappointing for Elliott, and the whole team, especially as every similar incident this season has resulted in just a yellow.
The boys were brilliant though. Sandy stepped into the goals whilst Euan moved back in to defence.
We came closest to scoring in the first half with a Cammy free kick crashing off the bar onto the line.
There was a heated discussion between myself, Scott and the referee as the first half neared an end. We took exception to the attitude he was showing towards our players.
We always ask our players to show respect to match officials as they have a difficult job, we expect the same back from them though.
A number of strange decisions followed, but our boys kept their composure.
They also had to deal with a number of comments aimed at them from the opposition coaches, which there is no excuse for. It just showed the frustration that we were causing them.
Duloch had the better of the 2nd half, as the fatigue kicked in with our players. We only had 1 sub today, plus picked up 2 injuries during the game. Although we were on the back foot, Sandy only had a couple of saves to make.
In the dying seconds Shane's tenacity created an opportunity for us to sneak the win, but he just ran out of steam at the end.
10 shattered players at the fulltime whistle, but each one of them can feel hugely proud of the effort put in when so much was against them today.

So the competitive games are over, but we'll ensure there's a farewell send off for the team with a prize giving and hopefully a friendly game to go along with it.
Details will follow.

As always, thanks for the support today.

The boys dug deep today to come from behind and claim a deserved win in our final ever home match.
A couple of missed opportunities to clear the ball led to Thornton being gifted an early goal.
Our heads dropped for the next 10 minutes, however confidence started to grow as we began to create chances ourselves.
Too many times though our front players were overly keen and found themselves offside.
Jack found the back of the net mid way through the first half, but the ref harshly called him offside.
Cammy then had a great chance but the ball took a wicked bobble off the surface and the shot ended up just wide of the post.
Momentum was now growing and it was no surprise when the equaliser arrived.
The ball fell to Alex at the back post and he hit a sweet volley into the bottom corner giving the Thornton keeper no chance.
The second half began with us pushing for a goal to put us on top, and it finally arrived.
A through ball put the Thornton defence under pressure and Jack was on hand to calmly side foot the ball in to the net.
We pushed for a 3rd, but also had a few scary moments at the back ourselves.
Elliott never had too much to do though, a credit to our back line for remaining strong.
A brilliant feeling at full time as we ended our losing run. It was fitting that we managed to do so as the 2005 team competed for the final time at home after a 12 year run.
It was fitting also to have Thornton as our opposition. We've had some great battles with them over the years, but always played in the correct spirit. We wish them all the best as they move on to Under 18s next season, we now move on to next Sunday when we face Lomond in the Cup final at the Warout Stadium in Glenrothes.

The Auchterarder 2005 team will have their final ever home game this Sunday.
The past few weeks have proved difficult for the boys with the team being on the end of a number of narrow defeats, however that shouldn't cast a shadow over what has been an exceptional run that the club has had for over a decade.
Initially set up by Sarah McGarty, with just a few boys playing fun 4s, the team has grown in numbers, age and size since then, working their way through super 5s, 7 aside, and finally 11 aside football.
The team have played in numerous football festivals around Scotland, were runners up at a tournament in Belgium, competed in a tournament in Ireland and have held their own football festivals in Auchterarder.
We've competed in the Forth Valley league and Fife league and have played in numerous league, regional and Scottish Cups.
We've played friendlies against most of the top Pro Youth teams in Scotland.
As a club we've attended Domestic and International matches, taken part in half time penalties at McDiarmid, hosted fund raising events, had end of season celebrations and hosted many award ceremonies.
We've been lucky enough to have a number of devoted coaches, parents and players. Some have been with the club throughout, others have drifted in and out, some have just been with us for a short while, whilst quite a few have moved on to a higher level.
One thing that has been at the heart of the club from day 1 though is fun. Friendships have been built that will last a lifetime and memories have been created that will last forever.
There is a pathway for all the players to move up to their Parent team, Primrose Amateurs, however this 2005 group and team will always be a special one for those who have been lucky enough to have been involved.

Unfortunately the boys waited until they were 3-0 down to start playing with the fight and desire needed.
A penalty and then a brilliant half volley from Cammy made the score respectable, the boys unlucky not to grab a late equaliser through Jacob. However as has been the case too many times this season the damage was done when we were too far off the pace.
Congratulations also to Lomond for being confirmed as this season deserved champions.

Everything was set up for a great game.
Weather, a good crowd and 2 teams ready to go.
Unfortunately though we were let down by no referee turning up.
Rather than go home with no game, we had a competitive training game.
The Auchterarder boys played well, going 2 goals up. A cracking strike early on from Sandy, and a cool finish from Jack to break his scoring drought.
Jeanfield were competitive though and were helped by having a couple of Under 20 players helping our their team.
One of the Under 20s scored a great goal to reduce the defecit followed by a late equaliser which their play probably deserved.
All in all though, disappointing that we'll need to rearrange another league fixture, but a positive performance against an experienced opposition.
