AFC Norton Woodseats under 14's Yellow's

What a brilliant start to the year! After losing not only our, but the league top scorer once the January transfer window opened we thought we might struggle today. Well the players performed brilliantly, Hamish started up front with Toby and immediately made an impression by winning a corner after his first minute shot was saved well by the opposition keeper. Lewis moved from defence into Central midfield and put in his usual battling game. We thought we had taken the lead after a good cross by Hamish that Toby poked home, but apparently Hamish was offside, so no goal. However the same combination did open the scoring with Toby finishing on the turn after a Hamish pass. James was having a good game at right back and played Troy down the right wing a few times. Liam Oboh had the right back on toast and was unlucky on a couple of occasions not to score. With Harry C, Jayson and Troy pulling the strings I'm midfield we limited the opposition to just a few attacks, but we were indebted to Izzy just before half time for pulling off an absolutely world class save tipping onto the bar whilst diving full stretch. Almost straight after halftime we won a corner on the left and as Hamish played it into the box, Harry C smashed it into the net. We had plenty of opportunities to increase the lead but the keeper was having a blinder, saving from, Liam O, Toby, Hamish and Troy to name a few. Liam F, Harry L, Oran and Elliot were winning everything in defence. Maks yet again put in some tough tackles and played in a variety of positions today but didn't look out of place in any. After some lovely intaplay between Jayson and Troy the latter put in a sweet cross which Hamish eventually converted after his first effort came back off the bar after the keeper saved it. Player of the match was very close between Hamish (2 assists and 1 goal) and Liam F (won everything and put into the match, what we did at training) we went with Liam on this occasion. Well, what a game today. Last week we did brilliantly to compete with only 11 players, so this week we were looking forward to having a substitute so we could give someone a breather. Unfortunately we were made aware during the week that one of our players was away this week so back to 11. The energy and commitment today was amazing, we scored after 1 minute, due to Toby playing Liam O in and should have had 2 before the opposition equalised. Callan then slipped Toby through one v one and he finished well in off the left post. Troy then got in on the assist game with a lovely ball to Callan who controlled well before beating the defender a finishing well. The opposition scored again, before 3 goals in 3 minutes , 2 from Callan and another from Toby, put us well in control. Callan scored again from another Toby assist before the opposition scorer 2 in 2 minutes, but not to be outdone Callan scored 2 more from Liam O and Oran assisting. Just before half time Hamish finished well from Liam O's assist. We tried to give everyone a decent break at halftime to recharge. The opposition scored first in the 2nd half but we responded well with Toby scoring to quick fire goals both assisted by Callan. After that we ran away with it a little with Callan scoring 2 more, Harry C grabbing a quick fire hattrick and Liam O getting another 1, assists were by Harry L , Callan, Hamish and Toby (x2). The opposition scored 2 more on this period but the game was pretty much over at halftime. Even though our defence was different again for the third game on the trot, they all put a massive effort in and Elliot was outstanding on his return, Oran put in another captains performance and Maks battled again in an unfamiliar position for him. Harry L was also playing out of position but was always talking to his fellow defenders to organise them. Izzy was quick of her line on a number of occasions to clear and made 2 or 3 great saves also. Our Player of the match was shared between Elliot and Harry C, but again it could have been all 11. Well done all and up the Yellows!

A great tournament was had by all today, big thanks to Hoyland Falcons for hosting. Well done to Elliott for being our player of the tournament and Hamish for being our top scorer. Really proud of you all. Well done.

Those that went to Chapel really enjoyed their weekend. We met Arsenal legend Alan Smith, and made some great memories.

What another wonderful team performance. This was a very tight game and the first goal didn't come until 17th minute and from a very unlikely scorer. We won a corner and Hamish put a great ball into the box and Oran rose like a salmon to head it in. His face was a picture as he turned away to celebrate, and this just brings home exactly why myself and Dave do this, brilliant. Our 2nd goal wasn't long behind after good work by Hamish, Toby smashed in at the 2nd attempt. The opposition halved the deficit before half time but not before Izzy had made a couple of good saves. At half time Lake found a Hulk mask, that one of the opposition had brought, and he said to us he would wear it if he scored. Not long after kickoff Liam O put a cross on for Lake to smash into the net and cue the Hulk celebrations. Lake then hit the post after good build up play by Harry C, Hamish, Toby and Callan with Callan scoring the rebound. The opposition scored again to make it a bit tight. Toby then scored his 2nd of the match after the keeper had failed to keep hold of another Lake strike. A proper poachers goal that one. Our final goal was scored by Troy after some nice play between Callan, Hamish and Troy, with the latter finishing from just inside the box on the left. The opposition got one back on the break but it was only consolidation in the end. Everyone put a great shift in. Oran got our player of the game mainly for his header that started it all. Well done Yellows onto the final game of the season next week. 👏

Another fantastic team performance. The opposition rocked up with 9 players so we said we would drop down to 10. With little over 10 minutes played they had 11 and we only had 10 on the cheek. Nevermind. We started really well and words can't describe Toby running down the right handside as he put a high cross into Callan who headed in. We peppered the goal with loads more chances but couldn't put it in and totally against the run of play the equalised. But Callan was having non of that and smashed in his 2nd after a fine through ball by Harry C. Izzy must of thought the score was unfair as she jumped into a hole whilst trying to catch a routine shot and it slipped though her fingers for an other equaliser. Harry C then banged in his 2nd goal of the season from outside the area to make it 3-2. Just before half time the opposition scored another equaliser and we thought maybe this wouldn't be our day even though they had no subs. All square at halftime. Callan got a another from good persistence and Hamish lashed one in after really good hold up play by Toby, then Hamish scored direct from a corner, with a bit of assistance from the wind. All of a sudden we were on complete control as the opposition tired. Liam O then got in on the act with a quickfire hattrick and Hamish got another his hattrick and then Callan got his 4th of the game. Izzy had little to do this half but did make a couple of good saves and could do nothing about the goal she did concede. Troy, Toby, Lake and Harry C all had decent shots but there keeper had a good game despite conceding quite a few. Marley, Liam F, Harry L and Oran all did well defensively and started a few attacks between them, Troy had a good game and was also on the move and ready to recieve the ball. Callan has now scored 40 goals for the season. Player of the match went to Liam O, but everyone was brilliant and it was a difficult decision. Up the Yellows!

What a brilliant team performance today. We had 12 kids who put 110% in. It was great to get the win in a tight game. A hatrrick from Callan and assists from Toby, Izzy and Harry C, but it wasn't just about the goals. We controlled play and had a lot of good chances. There could have been 12 player of the matches today, but Oran shaded it with his never say die attitude and his awesome goaline clearance. Well done all. Also Hamish got Player of the match last week, but we won't dwell on than one. Up the Yellows.
