It’s been a few weeks since we had our annual trip to Bron, we reckon we have been coming now for over 20 years. This year, Crofty, pictured with the big Perch below sadly was unable to attend this year as his son Nigel had sadly passed away a few weeks earlier. John was missed by the lads and Carole/Kev. Carole kindly donated £50 to John/Gwen, I think 🤔Kevin wanted to use the money to buy more chickens 🐓😂. Big thank you Carole/Kev for another great weekend and letting us do what we do! 👏

This week we had our first of 3 visits on the bounce to the prolific Lingmere Fishery on the Wirral.

Everybody in the club love it here, so there is always a good turn out, and with 18 of us fishing this week space was a premium.

Winner on the day was Mike Roberts from peg 24. With a steady breeze all day on a day where not many pegs had a breeze, Mike took advantage and finished with 95lb 12oz. Not bad for his estimated 50lb.

Runner up was Dave Kell from peg 3. Dave fished all over his peg to keep the fish coming to finish with 63lb 7oz, most fish being caught shallow once again.

And 3rd on the day was Andrew Fletcher from peg 29 with 55lb 14oz. Again fishing caster shallow, Andy took advantage of a slight breeze to keep the fish coming in short spells.

Section winners were Mike, Dave & Andy Lavender with 51lb 7oz from peg 15.

Our next match will see us back at Lingmere in 2 weeks time where hopefully the fish won’t back off as much as they did in the blaring heat yesterday.

Our match this week saw us at Weston Pools fishing the amazing Clay Pit, a lake that we always have a great turnout for.
The match was also the Brain Wadsworth Memorial match, with Brian being an important part of the club it is a great way to remember him and there’s a nice trophy on offer too.

Winner on the day was Gary Boydell from peg 35, weighing in 55lb 9oz. Gary started off well, landing a big fish early on, setting himself up well. Fishing the jigga and finishing in his margin, Gary had probably the best stamp of fish around the lake.

Runner up was Paul Lennon from peg 12. It’s a bit of a tight peg when 14 is in, but Paul made the most of his peg to finish with a weight of 48lb 4oz.

And 3rd on the day was Mike Roberts from peg 5. Mike plugged away switching between the waggler and the pole to finish with a weight of 43lb 10oz.

Mike is presenting the Brian Wadsworth memorial trophy to Gary in the picture.

Next outing for the club is our first of the year at Lingmere Fishery on the Wirral. Tap tap boom.

Our latest match saw us having to change venue due to ongoing issues with the road at Winsford Flash. Thankfully we were able to get booked in on Stamford Way for only our 2nd visit here.

With 18 booked on to fish we knew space would be important to frame, and so it proved on the day.

Winner on the day was Andy Lavender from end peg 17. Andy started well fishing long on the pole and had a good run of fish until the wind picked up. This slowed him down somewhat, but not enough to stop him winning with 68lb 7oz.

Runner up was Keith Bailey from end peg 24 with 67lb 4oz. A different day to Andy, it was a slow start catching the odd fish short or on the waggler before a decent run late on long down the edge helped build a decent weight.

And 3rd on the day was Neal Perryman from peg 22, weighing in 64lb 9oz. Neal also started well close in on maggot but u fortunately slowed down. If his early momentum had continued he might have won by a good distance. A nice first match back for Neal.

With back up weights in the 50’s & 40’s, it was a decent day all over.

Our next match will take us back to Weston Pools on 9th June where we will be fishing Clay Pit for the Annual Brian Wadsworth Memorial Trophy.

Another great break at Bron Eifion Criccieth big thank you Carole and Kevin Owen for your hospitality and looking after Paul and Sharon who were celebrating their first wedding anniversary. The fishing was great, full match details below, big well done to Simon winning 🏆 the festival on his first attempt, unlucky to Mike and Jimmy who ran him close. Most of all thanks to all the lads for making this a great weekend.

The clubs annual trip to Bron Eiffon Lakes in Criccieth concluded on the Saturday with three anglers still in the running to take the title. Jimmy Crimes, Simon Bayley and Mike Roberts had all won their sections on both days and entered the final day on two points. Jimmy drew on the damn wall (peg

**GOLDEN PEG WINNER KLAXON**

Today the team fished Stretton at Weston Pools with another great turn out of 17 anglers. Due to traffic issues in the morning we started late and fished 11-4 and this helped as a couple of good fish came out later on.

Winner on the day and winner of the golden peg was Mike Roberts from peg 2 with 74lb 7oz. Mike fished across to his left to catch a lot of the stockies during a busy day to become the 2nd golden peg winner of the season after only 3 matches.

2nd by only 1 fish was Mark Davies from peg 7 with 73lb 2oz. Mark had a fewer bigger fish than Mike fishing close in most of the day, but it just wasn’t enough to finish in the top spot.

And 3rd on the day was Dave Kell from peg 10 with 69lb 7oz. Again Dave has had a busy day with the smaller fish to keep ticking over all day.

Top 3 all came from the first section in the arm of the lake.

Some of the club members will be visiting Bron Eiffion in Criccieth for our annual trip on Wednesday so there will be some match updates throughout the week.

Our next club match will see us on Big Max at Old Hough.

Our first commercial match of the season today found us at a familiar venue for this time of year, Commonwood Fishery, Wrexham. Once again we fished Tryfan.

With 18 fishing it was tightly pegged, and to top it off we still had to contend with the tail end of the storm, so we werent expecting big weights.

Winner on the day from peg 5 was Andy Lavender. Fishing long pole when he could, Andy fished Corn over pellet for some nice carp to finish with 32lb 9oz.

Runner up, done by an ounce was Gary Boydell from peg 9. Gary was another who stuck to the long pole and finished with some nice carp for 32lb 8oz. Close.

And finishing to top 3 was Ian Hayes from peg 12 with 28lb 13oz. It was a day of what could’ve been for Ian as he was in a snaggy swim and lost a few fish unfortunately.

Our next match is in 2 weeks and it will be our first visit of the year to Weston Pools where we will be on Stretton. Another good turn out expected for a popular venue.

Final match of the season saw the club fishing our Fur N Feather at River Weaver in Frodsham. The River fished much better than it did in March. Top Rod on the day was Mike Roberts with 5lb 12oz on the tip, winning the Fur N Feather and the league. Well done Mike 👏, fished so consistently since your holidays. Second on the day was Jan, catching 5lb 5oz again on the tip. Third was Jimmy with a net of smaller fish on the whip.

Section A - Syd
Section B - Wayne
Section C - Simon
Section D - Mike

In terms of the leagues well done Mike winning the Premier league, Dave Kell winning the Championship with him and Simon both being promoted in their first full seasons. Well done on Jimmy winning the KO Cup and Jimmy and Andy Lavendar winning the pairs. Unlucky on Martin and John Mills getting relegated to the Championship.

For those I won’t see until the New Year, stay safe and have a good Christmas and New Year! 🎅🏼

Sunday saw us at Old Hough, Big Max for our penultimate match of the season. The fishing was going to be tough after temperatures dropped overnight. After a slowish toprod on the day was Andy Fletcher with 51lb 10oz of carp from peg 33 catching a few at 16metres on the pole and the rest on the waggler. The win secured Andy the golden peg, third time lucky! John Mills was a very close second with 49lb 4oz from peg 31. John caught really well on the tip with a mixed net, feeder masterclass! Third was Andy Lavendar with catching F1s from the off but his peg died the last couple of hours.

Section winners

Section A - Andy Lavendar
Section B - Mark Davies
Section C - Andy Fletcher

Well done Dave Kell for winning the Championship league 👏🥳

Our final match is in a fortnight on the Weaver (Fur N Feather) which will sort the men from the boys! Andy F, Mike and Andy L in running for the Premier League. Who else will come up to the premier league, Simon or Jimmy? Unfortunately, Johns close second wasn’t enough to keep him in the Premier League, but who will join him with five anglers within a few points, all to play for…..
