💜 An afternoon at Pewit Hall 💜

A lovely afternoon spent at Pewit Hall working my way through their team of horses 🐴

One of the things I really enjoy about treating multiple horses on the same yard is seeing just how individual every horse is. They may share the same management and training environment, but each horse has their own way of moving, compensating and responding to their workload.

Having the opportunity to work with them regularly means we can build up an individual picture for each horse, learning what is normal for them, tracking changes between sessions and recognising when something presents differently.

From the younger horses developing strength and condition, to established competition horses managing a busy workload, Hofmag can be tailored around what each individual needs at that point in their programme.

A big thank you to everyone at Pewit Stud for having me and for trusting me with your horses. Always a pleasure spending an afternoon with this lovely team 💜🧲

Finally cracked the Honey pot 🍯

Anyone who knows Honey knows how sensitive she can be. It’s only taken 5 months to finally she her show and fully release during treatment 😍

💜 Some horses don’t need more pressure. They need time.

This is one of the reasons I love using Hofmag with particularly sensitive horses.

With Hofmag, I can work quietly with the horse and allow them to respond in their own time. 🐴

Some relax immediately.

Others need a little longer.

You might initially see them guarding, holding tension or simply unsure about the sensation…

And then gradually you see the change 👀

The head lowers
The eyes soften
The muscles begin to relax
Then come the yawns, stretches and natural releases 🥱✨

That’s the part I love

I’m not looking to force a reaction from the horse

I’m looking to create an environment where they feel comfortable enough to offer the release themselves while Hofmag supports circulation, cellular activity and muscular relaxation

For sensitive horses especially, sometimes less pressure gives you more. 💜

A pre-show Hofmag session gives me the opportunity to:

✨ Check the horse against their normal baseline
✨ Identify areas showing increased reactivity or compensation
✨ Support circulation and muscle relaxation
✨ Address muscular tension accumulated during training
✨ See whether one side of the body is working harder than the other
✨ Support the horse ahead of the physical demands of travelling, warming up and competing

For horses I treat regularly, this becomes particularly valuable. I already know their usual patterns, so subtle changes before a competition can stand out much more clearly.

And communication with the rider is a huge part of it, combining what they’re feeling under saddle with what I’m finding during the session gives us a much better picture of how the horse is coping.

It’s not about changing the horse immediately before they compete. It’s about supporting the body they’ve spent weeks preparing and making sure horse welfare remains at the centre of performance 💜
