Bujinkan Crawley Dojo

Bujinkan Crawley Dojo A small and friendly group that is dedicated to training in the art of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu (aka Ninjutsu)

Our organisation is not a business or for profit; it is a school of endurance, both physical and mental, and traditional martial knowledge. Bujinkan is made up of nine separate ryūha, or schools, which have been integrated into one system, called Bujinkan Budō Taijutsu. Overseen and guided by Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi of Noda Japan: 34th Grandmaster of Togakure Ryu Ninjutsu and founder of the Bujinkan D

ojo. Training aims to develop the ability to protect oneself and others using techniques that focus on disabling or neutralising an attacker as efficiently as possible. It is open to all with a sincere wish to learn the Japanese martial arts, no previous martial arts experience is necessary. At the Crawley Dojo the class is taught by Alastair Gould who is a Bujinkan 6th Dan black belt (Shidoshi) and has been training in the Bujinkan for over twenty years. He trains on a regular basis with Shihan Peter King, who is the senior instructor for the Bujinkan in the UK and also trains with Hatsumi Soke and other Japanese Shihans in Japan. If you consider yourself a martial artist, do not play around and annoy others like a child.
Unfortunately, I feel there are those who are literally children just playing at the martial arts. Budo begins with manners and ends with manners. Budo is about learning to maintain the peace. However, if one acts recklessly or with immaturity around other budoka, they will eventually find themselves alienated, beaten, and/or less tolerated until they become adults.
When you go to the dojo, it's not a place to literally "play like children". We must play like adults earnestly. This can be viewed as " Majime Asobu" or "serious play."
Ensure your heart is playful and open but, make sure you are not acting like a child.
There is a difference.
