Tough afternoon for the Under 10s but plenty will be learnt from today! We played an excellent game changers team and our goalkeeper Parker was a busy man and had a terrific game. Onto next week! 🖤❤️

We had 2 today.
Noah in goal was brilliant at keeping the opposition at bay with some great saves.

Mason put in great shift, non stop running and plenty of tackles.

Our u7s man of the match today was Kai we went up against a very well organised team they managed to cut through us like a hot knife through butter until they came up against this absolute brick wall between the sticks Kai made save after save making himself and everybody else so proud well done mate 👏🏻👏🏻

Our Oakwood u11 faced tough opponents today and although the result wasnt what they would have liked, it sounds like the players all kept battling and thats what this club is all about. Manager Lee's brief run down...

U11 match report

Cup game against a league one side so we were completely out of our depth with this side.

The boys battled till the end and gave it their all and that’s all I can ask of them.

We move on from this hopefully learning and adjusting.

U18 Match Report.
First home game of the season v Steyning was always going to be a tough game.
With several key players missing, and a few turning up 10 mins before kick off the attitude of the Oakwood squad was in question before the game even kicked off.
The 11 that started the game knew they were in for a battle with fair but hard tackles flying in from both sides.
A competitive first half saw a moment of quality from the Oaks No10 when on the half hour Adam Bouabbane played a delightful chip through for Jonah Stellabotte to run through and smash a volley past the Steyning keeper. 5 mins later The Oaks lost their holding midfielder Ashton Fraser and what was a challenging game was only going to become harder.
1-0 HT to the Oaks.
2nd half, attitude and fitness won the day. Steyning had the desire, discipline and team spirit and piled the pressure on the oaks. Eventually a mix up between the oaks keeper and right back let them in to equalise. Minutes later and a moment of petulance saw Jonah kick out at an opposition player and the oaks were down to 10 men. You could see the heads drop once the oaks went down to 10, even though the game was 1-1 they looked like a team that was beaten.
With 20 remaining the ref gave Steyning a penalty after George Frost had done the hard part by ushering the forward away from goal only to shoulder charge him when the ball was not within play. 1-2 Steyning.
They rapped it up with a 3rd goal and the oaks were given a lesson by a team playing up one year.
MOM Billy Powis for actually keeping his head and discipline when all around him were losing theirs. 🖤❤️

Our Oakwood u15s lost 1-0 in the county cup away to Lancing Yellow this morning. Manager James Mallinson had the following to say...

U15 s today done us and the club so proud today in a 1-0 loss to lancing but we also could have won the game seconds earlier if our shot had not bounced of the inside of the post and out 🤦‍♂️ rather then In 😂 so so proud of the lads and the club love what we’re about !

Our Oakwood F.C u11s match report from yesterday.

Oakwood U11s began their season with a home fixture against familiar opponents Capel Comets. Having enjoyed most of the early possession and created the better chances, Oakwood were unfortunate not to take the lead.

Instead, it was Capel who struck first against the run of play. The visitors then had the chance to extend their advantage from the penalty spot, but the effort crashed against the crossbar to keep Oakwood in the game.

Oakwood came out strongly in the second half and deservedly equalised via a peach of a cross from out wide was finished well from close range volly range. The hosts continued to press, but an excellent performance from the Capel goalkeeper kept the scores level.

With only a few minutes remaining, a misplaced pass allowed Capel to break forward and score the winner, leaving Oakwood on the wrong side of a 2-1 result.

Despite the disappointment, there were plenty of positives for Oakwood, with several new players making encouraging contributions and key players still to return in the coming weeks. A promising start, even if the points didn't follow. ❤️🖤⚽

Well Done Oakwood F.C u7s 👏
Our first match together and I think the nerves got to a few of the boys we found ourselves up against a very fair but physical team we conceded early and defended with everything we had our motm was Archie who gave it his all always trying to drive us forward and never let anything knock his confidence well done Archie 👏🏻👏🏻
