Domestic abuse affects more than 2 million people every year, with the police receiving a call about it every 30 seconds on average. Yet only 1 in 5 victims are estimated to report incidents to the police.
Raneem’s Law was established in memory of Raneem Oudeh and her mother Khaola Saleem, who were murdered by Raneem’s ex-husband in August 2018. There were 13 reports made to the police about concerns for Raneem’s safety, but no arrests were made. On the night she was killed, she rang 999 four times but the police did not respond in time.

Minister for Safeguarding and Violence Against Women and Girls Jess Phillips said: “Raneem’s death showed us the devastating cost of missed opportunities”.

Crawley Combat & Fitness are mindful of such tragedies as highlighted above. We want woman in the local and surrounding areas to feel safe, strong and capable in any situation, as Raneems Law is only being piloted in a few geographical areas across the UK. That’s why we want to make you aware of our ladies only survival tactics programs while training in a supportive female friendly environment. We have the support of Sussex Police for our work with woman’s self defence.

For too long, crimes disproportionately impacting women and girls have not been met with the specialist response they require. Get in touch.

Brilliant session on Saturday Crawley Combat Academy run by The Self Defence Centre CIC and Physical Empowerment CIC.

A huge well done to all the women who attended and to the coaching team, including Chara (the dog).

With thanks to Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner for funding this project, helping raise awareness of domestic abuse and how to break the cycle, the importance of self-worth and how knowing self-protection can truly be a game changer.

In self-defence, your priority is to escape safely. At Combat Survival Tactics, we teach that using any and all necessary force is crucial until you can get away. Your safety is the most important thing!

Escape is the Goal: Always aim to get to safety. This might mean using all the skills you’ve trained in
Know Your Rights: UK laws, like the Self-Defence Act 2008, allow you to use reasonable force to protect yourself.
Trust Your Instincts: In a high-pressure situation, you may not have time to think. That’s why our training focuses on muscle memory. Your body will know what to do.

Wow, what a proud day. The first two certified Physical Empowerment CIC coaches!

Helen and Max put their heart and soul in to the training today and they were awesome. So proud of both of them and so thankful to them for the hard work, time and effort they have put in over the last 18 months.

What better way to celebrate than by celebrating these two wonderful women who are now able to go on and empower more women. Awesome!

Really proud to have our instructors taking on the job of taking this women’s self defence workshop at our gym , and big thank you for the funding from 500Rising to enable us to put this on for the ladies of Sistershare Listening Group, also others from other groups , liaising and working with Sean from Menshare Listening Group, Pip from Physical Empowerment CIC, and also working with our own The Self Defence Centre CIC to put this on .

Thanks to our very own Combat Survival Tactics coaches Pip, Sabir, Jason’s input and help and Trainee Coach Laura who helped out on her Birthday - big kudos there !!!🙏🏻

Proud day for me today for the first time in 13 years having a workshop put on by our team without me having to be there !

It’s pipe and slippers time for the old man ( haha yeah not just yet )!

The amount of planning, training and many hours of sacrifice coaches and instructors make just to be there to teach is phenomenal and that’s why not many can actually make the grade . Had great feedback from the ladies and look forward to the next one .

Well done all !!!

This organisation are doing great things for kids football !
We believe keeping kids active is so important for their development and it’s right that we all support each other to provide services to people of all ages to keep active and healthy !
