🏏 MATCHDAY 3 RESULT 🏏

Unfortunately, the weather won on the weekend with the 2nd abandoned game of the season.

The lads had made a really strong start to the game, and restricted the visitors to 102 for 7 from 32 overs before the rain settled in and meant no further play was possible.

A tough one to take, as the lads looked on course for the first win of the season, but an impressive bowling display regardless.

Dan Loader was the pick of the bowlers with 2/7 from his 7 overs. There was also a team hat-trick as Scott Norton and Chris Vaughan took 3 wickets in 3 balls!

Tomorrow is the first home game of the season for Cranborne as the lads welcome Sway CC 3rd XI to Pennys Lane.

It has been a frustrating start for The Cranes after an abandoned game in gameweek 1, which was followed up by only having 9 batsmen in the 8-wicket defeat to Ferndown Wayfarers last week.

Despite this, availability has been much better this week, and a strong XI has been picked for tomorrow's match, where the lads will be looking to pick up the first win of the season.

The bar will be open throughout the match, and hopefully, we will get a little bit of luck with the weather!

TRAINING FACILITIES

As many of you will know, our practice nets have fallen on hard times recently, and if we are to secure the future of the club, this needs to be addressed.

To get the ball rolling, we are looking for some local businesses to come and quote for the work to be done, to get 1 lane back to its best, to allow the club to continue for generations to come.

Once we have a price, we will be looking for the support of local businesses as well as fundraising to cover the costs of this work.

If you know of anyone who could do the work, please tag them in this post!

🏏 MATCHDAY 16 RESULT 🏏

On Saturday, The lads were on the road for the final time in the 2025 season, as they made the trip to Bramshaw to take on their 2nd XI.

The lads were looking for 3 wins in a row, knowing a win would secure safety in division 4 for next season.

Skipper Tom Pickering won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Scott Norton and Marc Harris opened the bowling for Cranborne and were made to work really hard to not only take wickets, but keep the runs down, on a very small ground.

The reward eventually came, as Harris got the first wicket of the day with a beautiful slower ball, to bowl Booth for 21.

Things quickly became quite frustrating for the visitors though as Bramshaw put on 102 for the 2nd wicket. The skipper came into the attack after an injury to Durrans and managed to get the breakthrough in his 2nd over.

A further flurry of wickets fell with Maltman claiming 1, Pickering a further 2 and a run out for McDouall behind the stumps.

At the end of the Bramshaw innings, they finished on 247/6, which always looked a touch below par.

After the tea interval, the sides were quickly back out with Norton and Vaughan opening up.

After a brual first over from Norton, the first wicket fell when Vaughan was bowled for just 4 runs.

Norton and Loader looked to stabalise things but 2 quick wickets fell with 44 on the board, and when Maltman fell 36 runs later, The Cranes were in as spot of trouble at 80/4.

Park and Harris were the new men in the middle and simply knocked Bramshaw out of the game.

The pair put on a stunning 119 run partnership for the 5th wicket, with some of the best hitting of the season that we have seen. Harris eventually fell for 70 before Park quickly departed after him for 68.

Cranborne still required 45 to win as Lloyd and McDoaull came to the middle but the pair guided the lads home, with some patient cricket.

Lloyd looked very good for his 14* and McDouall decided to take them on and made a brilliant 23, including a 6, 4 combo to win the game for Cranborne by 4 wickets.

The win moves Cranborne up to 5th in the table with 2 to play and safety secured in division 4 for the 2026 season.

Another brilliant game of cricket, where the lads had to dig deep to bring home the win!

Tomorrow is the 16th game of the 2025 season as we head on the road for our final away game of the year.

The Cranes currently sit 6th in the table after 2 vital back to back victorys, to edge them closer to division 4 cricket again next season. The hosts have struggled this season and currently sit 2nd bottom but as we have seen this season, no game is straight forward for us!

In the reverse fixture, The Cranes claimed victory by 6 wickets after one of the best bowling performances of the season so far.

🏏 MATCHDAY 15 RESULT 🏏

On Saturday, The Cranes were back in action as the lads hosted New Milton 2nds.

The lads were looking for back to back wins to cement their place in division 4 for next season.

Skipper Tom Pickering won the toss and elected to bowl first on a warm day in East Dorset.

The Cranes got off to a brilliant start with the ball and took a flurry of early wickets as the visitors fell to 51-5 with both Norton and Harris taking wickets, and then Maltman and Park came into the attack to keep up the momentum.

There was a small fustrating part of the innings when some catches went down in the field as New Milton looked to recover but eventually slumped to 135 all out.

Harris the pick of the bowlers with a 3fer, Park and Durrans both claiming 2 with a wicket each for Norton and Maltman.

After the tea break, Norton and Beattie were out in the middle looking to chase down the total set.

The pair put on 65 for the first wicket before Norton was caught for a well made 56, and Beattie followed shortly after for 21.

Maltman and Loader knocked off the rest of the runs, as they finished 33* and 23* respectively.

Cranborne claimed an 8 wicket victory inside 22 overs and claimed the maximum 24 points.

Another brilliant display from the lads.
