Royal London Yacht Club

Royal London Yacht Club Founded in 1838 the Royal London is one of Britain's ancient yacht clubs. The Royal London Yacht Club was founded in London in 1838.

Based in our Victorian clubhouse in Cowes, with a prime spot overlooking the parade, we have been a centre of yachting excellence for nearly two centuries. Its first meeting place was the Coal Hole Tavern in Fountain Court on the Strand . Racing commenced on the Thames . It obtained its Royal Warrant from the dowager Queen Adelaide in 1849. Now the Royal London Yacht Club has its House located in

the centre of Cowes waterfront, on a site that it has occupied since 1882. The club has a long history in British yachting. Its members have ranked among the most colourful personalities in the yachting scene. It was the first popular yacht club to bring the sport to Cowes. In its early days it fostered racing innovations and was instrumental in establishing a universal set of rules and system of measurement. Concern with the past is now balanced by an active and progressive membership with interests in all forms of yachting and a very active social calendar. Membership is limited to 500 members.

Members of the London headed to La Trinité-sur-Mer this weekend as guests of Yacht Club de France to race in the Autumn series in the Grande Surprise class.

Fantastic wind and the ever welcoming YCF made for a great weekend. We are looking forward to returning for the Belle Île race in May and the YCF are already talking about their visit to Cowes next summer.

Another fantastic Cowes Week at the London both on and off the water. Big shout out to:
- Dauntless (crewed by Josh, Jane & Giles Peckham + Thomas Dickson & Jane Peckham) narrowly beat Doublet to win the Daring class and took 9th in White Group Overall.
- Annabel Whelan won the SB20 Mini Slam in Breaking Bod but was pushed to 9th in the Grand Slam by Patrick Whelan who took 7th in The Foxes.
- Slightly further down the racing hierarchy Vasilieos Kilanis (on Mermaid Spirit with an HSBC crew) and Connor Campbell-Coleman (on Polestar with an RL YM crew) came 15/19th in Performance Cruiser B and 16/17 in Club Cruiser C respectively. Both Vas and I agree that this should basically count as a win given issues with both our handicaps...

Thank you Yacht Club de France for another fantastic visit to La Trinite-sur-mer, for the Tour de Belle-Ile! (Essentially the French RTIR)

Much better weather than last year, and even better results, with our Treasurer's boat taking 2nd in the Grand Surprise class and other London members finishing a very respectable 5th/18 in the J80. Looking forward to your reciprocal visit in the summer!

A great opening weekend of the season with the Cape31 Class UK. Potentially a bit much for this author's soft cruising blood, but the Capes are undoubtedly one of the most exciting classes on the Solent these days.

A challenging weekend for the Royal London Foxes at the 2025 UKTRA Team Racing Nationals. Following a shaky start the squad was able to start racking up a few wins from Saturday afternoon onwards, including an ego boosting win vs 5-time Wilson winner West Kirby Hawks.

Overall the foxes managed to maintain last year's result of 15/24, with the Royal Thames Academy White taking the Prince Philip Trophy!
