Weโre delighted to share some exciting news with our members as we look ahead to the 2026/27 Colts season.
Following discussions with Nuneaton RFC, we are pleased to welcome their Colts into a new Colts cluster with Keresley RFC, with the potential for other local clubs and players to join us as the season develops.
This is grassroots rugby at its very best โ clubs working together to make sure young players have the opportunity to keep playing, keep developing and, most importantly, keep enjoying their rugby.
๐ A PATHWAY BUILT FOR DEVELOPMENT
Keresley is in a fortunate position. Our Colts programme has had a hugely successful period of player development and graduation into senior rugby, with a number of our young players now making the step into the adult game.
That success has created capacity within our Colts set-up, and weโre proud to be able to open our doors and share what we have built with players who might otherwise struggle to find a regular place to play.
But this isnโt simply about having enough players to put a team on the pitch.
We want to provide an environment where young players can genuinely develop and progress.
Our Colts will benefit from a professional, high-quality coaching set-up, with Josh Barton (Coventry RFC), Toby Trinder (Oundle RFC) and Jon Lowden bringing top-tier rugby knowledge, experience and coaching to the programme.
Training will also provide a genuine Colts-to-Seniors pathway, with opportunities for our young players to train alongside the senior section, learn from experienced adult players and coaches, and begin making that transition into senior rugby in a positive and supported environment.
For us, the goal is simple:
Develop players. Build confidence. Create friendships. And ultimately keep more young people playing rugby.

Nuneaton bring their own history, players, coaches and culture, and weโre genuinely excited to welcome them into the Keresley family.
Weโre looking forward to getting to know the players, building new friendships and creating a Colts environment where everyone feels part of the team.
The plan will include combined training sessions, friendly fixtures and opportunities to play alongside and against other clubs throughout the season, with more details to follow as arrangements develop.

We also want to make it clear that the door is open.
If youโre a Colts player who has found yourself without a team, if your club is struggling for numbers, or if youโre simply looking for a new rugby home โ come and talk to usโฆ.

We believe the future of grassroots rugby is stronger when clubs work together rather than compete for players.
This is bigger than one club
Itโs about creating opportunities, keeping players in the game and building a pathway from Colts rugby into senior rugby and beyond.
