Haunchwood Tornados v Stratford Town Colts

We welcomed Stratford Town Colts on a beautiful sunny morning where we were fortunate enough to get the game on and the boys were in a vibrant mood.

Tornados were really competitive in the first half against a really strong and capable team, with us hitting the post twice and testing their keeper with a couple of opportunities, unfortunately we fount ourselves behind at the break but still had lots to play for. We came back after the break and wasn’t quite the same team, Stratfords quality really shown and they moved the ball around causing us to lose our shape and the game to get away from us.

Sometimes you just have to admire the quality of opposition and applause them for it.

The coaches player was JB, he made some outstanding saves and kept them at bay and always kept his up high.

Parents Player was JB and Fish, JB for the same reason as the coaches player and Fish was constant running and Battling, he’s really worked on the physical side of his game, so it was great to see.

These boys are a great talent and always want to learn, this was a good lesson and challenge for them and we will bounce back.

Haunchwood Tornados finished of a fantastic preseason with a tournament today, thanks to our friends at Atherstone Rangers.

The tournament was great occasion and Tornados represented the club in brilliant manner, playing some good football and putting in good performances all over the pitch. The boys really highlighted their hard work all summer, not only to be better footballers but to be great team mates. They make their coaches and parents proud.

Next up for the boys, a home tie against Ambleside on Saturday, this is new league for the boys but they are ready and relishing the fresh challenge.

Award for Sporting Values 🏆 in the end of year school awards. His teachers say..you cant be good at every sport, without hard work, talent and perseverance. Oliver isn't just good at football, he's good at every sport.

⚽️🔴Saturday 15th March - Tornadoes Vs Walmley ⚽️🔴

🗣 "Tornados go matching on.
Today was a game where we didn't play the best football but we dug deep to see it over the line. We came up against a very talented team who have stepped up an age group, they pulled us around at times but we stuck to our plan and that was to soak up the pressure and break quickly. We limited them to not really getting many shots off, which is testament to the team. We know we can play better football but the work off the ball was excellent today.

⚽️Parents player- Max, he was bright and energetic. He caused many problems and scored a great penalty.

⚽️Coaches Player- Theo, he put in some great tackles and was solid at the back, his positional play was top draw today.

Well done boys"

Saturday 9th March, Measham Vs Tornadoes 🌪 ⚪️🔴
"Great win today, we scored some good goals, harrisons scissor kick was brilliant. We played some good football at times. I always want more though and I think we are capable of it. Today was a good game for us to build some confidence and build some momentum.

This weekend we said a big farewell to Joey who’s off to live in Spain!
A great last game for Joey seen him captain his team to a great win securing man of the match.
The Tornadoes family then enjoyed a very energetic afternoon outing to Flipout in Coventry for one last big social get together.

“I want to thank you Becky and Gaz for bringing Joey in all weather's, he's been a valuable part of the team and has always played with a smile on his face, he's been brilliant for me and Tornados. My favourite moment was him ready to take on the Ambleside team in the friendly this summer, he had the boys back. He's scored some great goals, played in many positions and finally scored a penalty last week that he's been asking to take all season. “

“We started the day in the best possible way, with a win. We celebrated like we had just won the world cup. I think in the whole time I've had this team, I've never seen a togetherness as much as I did today. We were brilliant. I sense a change of attitude and a little belief in what we do.
