** Update **

There have been lots of hard work and changes in the back ground here at Hawkesmill. The first team have moved across to the Leamington league and have been placed in the Premier division, which will be a good test for the lads which we are all looking forward too.

We have created a second/reserve team which will remain in the Coventry league.

We have added a few quality signings to the club which we are hoping will add to an exciting season ahead.

Hard work has gone into the Haweksmill club house. Painting the outside and refreshing the dugouts home and away.

We have had a few pre season friendlys so far with good wins over Bowling Green and Harbury giving all the lads valuable game time.

We continue to grow and build as a club. Exciting times ahead. 💛🖤

Mick Malone Final

Hawkesmill Fc 2 - 2 Coundon Nugget FT
(Penalties, Hawkesmill 2 - 3 Coundon)

Scorers:
Brandish
Garner

So the dust has settled on last night's dramatic final between ourselves and Coundon. Two good quality sides going head to head again made it to be a thrilling game.

The Coventry Technical hosted and the pitch was looking excellent ready for some good football to be played and it didn't disappoint.

The game got underway and both us and Coundon had early spells in possession, using the width of the pitch well. P.Ryan and C.Ferguson at wingbacks were looking a threat.

It was Coundon who opened the scoring. A cross on the left side was delivered to the back post, the Coundon winger jumped the highest to head the ball past GK Roddy, unlucky for Roddy as he had a strong hand to the ball. 0-1.

From this point in it was Hawkesmill who started to control the game more. Keeping the ball well, linking up nicely and creating chances. A few crossed balls into the Coundon area were causing problems.

We started to dominate forcing Coundon back and the pressure finally paid off. A lovely cross field ball by Walker, this was brought down well by Roberts inside the Coundon area, he then set up Brandish who hit a hard first time effort past the Coundon keeper 1-1.

The lads were confident now and more chances came and went. It wasn't long before we took the lead. Again Walker spreading the ball well, he delivered into the path of Garner who had made a well timed run into the area, Garner with full composure looped the ball over the Coundon keeper and into the net 2-1. HT.

Second half we knew we needed another goal as Coundon would come on strong.

Similar to the first half both sides playing some really good football. Our GK Roddy was called into action as their forward got in behind but he held his own and produced a big save.

Coundon soon levelled the scoreline. A dangerous cross was parried away by GK Roddy, however the loose ball hit our CB and went in. Really unfortunate goal to conceded.

Hawkesmill started to look tired after putting in a big performance. Kelly had to come of due to injury after having a fantastic game in the middle. More changes were made to try and bring more energy into the game.

Again Roddy keeping us level with another good save from the Coundon forward. With the clock ticking down we had three minutes left until it would be decided on penalties. We had one final chance a cross into the Coundon area fell to Garner at the back post he flicked the ball towards goal, the ball hit the Coundon Keeper bounced and was agonisingly cleared from the line . FT 2-2.

A big effort from everyone involved and as ever penalties is a lottery which we all knew.

Unfortunately Hawkesmill missed our first three penalties, but our GK Roddy wasn't going down without a fight as he produced two good saves himself. However Coundon converted their last penalty meaning a 3-2 win for them on penalties.

The lads were dissapointed but full credit to everyone. Battled well, played some quality football and produced a really entertaining match and we can hold our heads high.

A big thank you to everyone who was helped us out and supported this season. See you next season 💛🖤

Allen Toms Cup Semi Final

Hawkesmill Fc 3 - 4 Coundon Nugget

Scorers:
Buckley x2
Hall

Midweek cup semi final action for the lads, knowing a good performance was needed to edge past a strong Coundon side.

Possession was shared in the early stages of the game with both sides passing the ball well.

It was Coundon who opened the scoring early on, a challenge in the middle with the deflected ball looping up over our back four. This fell nicely to the Coundon forward who slotted the ball home well. 0-1.

We soon replied and it was our front man Buckley getting in on the action, he was strong, held his man off whilst being fouled and proded the ball into the corner of the net 1-1.

Our GK Roddy was called into action soon after, and made his first and only save to note of the first half with chances being restricted for Coundon. The Coundon forward went through one on one but Roddy spread himself well and made a key save.

The remainder of the first half was all in Hawkesmills favour. We created three or four clear chances. P.Ryan and Osbourne both coming close with powerful headers one being saved well and another being headed of the line. Buckley almost grabbed another first half goal after a good ball in from the left handside, however his first time effort was blocked well by the Coundon keeper 1-1 HT.

Second half Hawkesmill started to up the pressure and were forcing Coundon deeper. Both sides were still playing some good quality football.

We took the lead from a long throw into the area by Roberts. He found the head of Hall and his well directed header flew past the keeper 1-2.

We soon extended our lead, some good play from Callum down the left, his saved effort found its way over to Buckley. He turned his man and his powerful effort was enough to beat the keeper again 1-3.

This should have been enough to see the game out for us but unfortunately this wasn't the case.

We held on up until the 85th minute. A long ball forward was deflected and latched onto by the Coundon forward who again punished us finishing well 2-3.

Almost straight after Coundon had another attack inside our area. The player jumped over an outstretched leg and went down. Penalty awarded, very soft as minimal contact was made. Penalty converted 3-3.

With 1 minute left to play and the game looking to be heading to penalties. Coundon were gifted yet another goal. A flicked header back by our defender fell into the path of their forward and he punished us. Last kick of the game 3-4 FT

Really tough to take for the boys. As we were in full control and in honesty played the better football and created the better chances. Credit to Coundon they held in there and took the half chances we gave them.

We meet Coundon again in a weeks time in a different final where the lads will be looking to put things right. We regroup and come back stronger 💛🖤

Mick Malone Cup Semi Final

Whitley Fc 2 - 8 Hawkesmill Fc

Scorers:
Buckley x4
Brandish
P.Ryan
Hall
A.Edwards

Sunday the Hawkesmill lads were in cup semi final action, our first of two semi final fixtures in three days.

The lads knew that we needed to put in a big performance against a strong Whitley side. Hawkesmill were strengthened with pretty much most of our lads available for selection.

In what was glorious sunny conditions there was know better place for a big cup game other than Whitley Common...

The game got underway and for the opening few minutes both teams were cautious and were getting used to the pitch and weather conditions.

From about five minutes in Hawkesmill started to apply some pressure on Whitley causing them to defend and a couple of early chances came and went for us.

We started to have full control of the game and the early pressure paid off as we opened the scoring. Some good work by P.Ryan down the lefthand side, he fed the ball into the feet of front man Buckley he controlled well and his well struck effort flew past the Whitley keeper 0-1.

Soon after we quickly doubled our lead. This time some excellent work from CB Hall who had carried on his run to the right wing. He pulled the ball back to Brandish and again his clinical effort flew past the keeper 0-2.

Hawkesmill could sense that Whitley were disjointed and started to create spaces and openings with ease. Another three or four chances were wasted by us with some wayward efforts and with Whitley blocking well.

We finally got our third goal which would settle us down, Brandish and Buckley teaming up well. The ball was at Buckleys feet and again his strong effort was to much for the Whitley keeper 0-3.

Another quick fourth goal followed. This was a carbon copy of the third. Assist king Brandish teeing up Buckley nicely and the big man was yet again clinical powering the ball into the net, completing his first half hat trick 0-4.

Hawkesmill were passing well across the pitch with confidence and we kept Whitley to minimum chances in the first half.

There was chance for us to add our fifth goal before half time. Nathan Osbourne controlled a high ball well, he looped a ball forward into the path of P.Ryan, he jumped up highest heading the ball over the out rushing Whitley keeper 0-5 HT.

More of the same for Hawkesmill was the message. Some early changes shortly into the second half allowed fresh legs and squad rotation in hot tough conditions.

In honesty the second half did get a bit scrappy and chances were being created by both sides.

Buckley was on hand again to get his fourth of the game. After another good assist by P.Ryan 0-6.

Disappointingly we couldn't hold on to our clean sheet. After a long ball forward was dispatched past Roddy in goal 1-6.

Captain Hall who led by example all game popped up inside the area to add our seventh goal. Buckley found him well in space, Hall finished well high into the net 1-7.

A change in goal for Hawkesmill giving goalkeeper coach Nathan Lewis a chance in the sticks.

He was called into action early by picking the ball out of the net. Another long ball forward was looped over Lewis in goal which he couldn't do much about 2-7.

We rounded of the scoring with a well worked eighth goal. A good cross into the area by P.Ryan, he found substitute A.Edward's inside the area and he side footed the ball into the net 2-8. FT

A really good all-round performance from Hawkesmill. We dominated the game and got the job done early on.

We are now into the Final of the Mick Malone Cup. Details will follow 🙌💛🖤

Midweek fixture against the Nugget ended in a 4-1 defeat for the lads. Strange game and result as we had some good spells in the game and created some good chances. Credit to all the lads as we went with a rotated squad and still battled well.

Our focus is now on two big semi final fixtures coming up.
