IT'S TEEP WEEK AT COOKSEY'S COMBAT CLUB 🥊
This week we're putting one of the most important weapons in Muay Thai under the microscope — the teep.

Often called the jab of Muay Thai, the teep is far more than just a push kick. When used correctly, it can:
Control distance 👣
Disrupt rhythm 🧠
Score effectively 📈
Create openings 👊
Stop opponents building momentum 🛑

Throughout the week we'll be exploring the teep from multiple angles:
🥊 Lead & rear teeps
🔄 Defensive and offensive applications
🎯 Timing and accuracy
🧠 Decision-making and set-ups
👊 Using the teep in drills, sparring and live situations

Anyone can throw a teep.
Learning when, why, and how to use it is what separates technique from understanding.

Another full week ahead of building things properly — from our youngest members stepping onto the mats for the first time, to adults sharpening skills, fitness, and confidence every evening.

There’s a difference between just hitting pads… and actually learning how to think while you fight 👊

This clip is focused on exactly that.

While I’m feeding shots to Habib, the goal isn’t just to block or survive the round — it’s to:

Catch and counter every shot where possible 🥊
Maintain positioning and balanced footwork 👣
Stay composed under pressure 🔨
And still react to the verbal commands being given in the background by Nak Muay Shot Caller 🧠

That’s where real development starts happening.

Anyone can look sharp when they know exactly what’s coming next.
The challenge is processing information, staying calm, and making good decisions while tired, under pressure, and thinking about multiple things at once.

Alongside their Muay Thai sessions, our juniors take part in Intro to Military Phys — led by myself and Coach Habib, both working alongside the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Commandos.

Simple work. Done properly. Repeated consistently.

Burpees by count.
Push-ups by count.
Movement, discipline, and listening under pressure.

It’s not about “beasting” kids for the sake of it.
It’s about teaching them how to:

Listen and respond to instruction
Stay composed when things get tough
Work as part of a group
Push themselves without quitting

These are the kinds of habits that carry far beyond the gym — into school, behaviour, and everyday life.

This is why we do it this way.

Because the standards we take from the Royal Navy are built around DRIL C2:

Values that shape how these kids train, behave, and grow — both on and off the mats.

We run these sessions 3x per week, building them in gradually so every child can progress at their own pace.
