Something fell out of the sky.

I was walking out of my back door as something fell out of the sky and landed on the paving slabs just in front of me.

I looked down to find a young bird lying there, completely still.

I held my breath, wondering if he was still alive.

Slowly, he began to move and tried to right himself, but he looked weak and vulnerable.

I think he was a young bird perhaps taking his first flight that ended in a crash landing.

I stayed nearby and did my workout in the garden, keeping an eye on him and making sure he was safe.

About 20 minutes later, something changed. He had regained enough strength and confidence to have another go. This time he flew.

His first attempt hadn't been a success but it wasn't the end of the story. He just needed a little time to recover, rebuild his confidence and trust that he could fly again.

It struck me that this is the same for us. Our first attempt doesn't have to define what happens next.

Is this you?

Every ache, pain, strange sensation in your body is a sign that you are getting worse. You think this is just part of the journey with Parkinson's disease.

The result?

You start to lose confidence in your body.
You move less
You worry about how capable your body is.
So, you turn down invitations to go and do the things that you enjoy.

Here's the thing.

Moving less often creates more stiffness and loss of confidence.

Not every symptom is evidence of decline. Your body could be telling you that you need to move more.

Have you ever turned down an invitation because you weren't sure if your body could handle it?

I'm running a masterclass on how to Move Well with Parkinson's Disease on 17th June at 12pm. I'll be sharing lots of valuable tips on how you can restore confidence in your body again.

The weather is meant to be sunny and warm.

Your friends invite you to join them for a walk and picnic. It sounds great. You haven’t seen them for a while, it would be fun and enjoyable to catch up with them.

You are about to say ‘yes’ then the worry starts to creep in. You start questioning yourself; will your body be able to cope with a walk. Your balance has felt a little off lately and you aren’t sure your body can handle walking over uneven ground.

Since the Parkinson’s diagnosis you have lost trust in your body. Your mobility isn’t what it used to be, so you are thinking maybe it should be a ‘no’.

Have you ever felt like that?
Having to turn down invitations because you are second guessing your body?

You can bring structured movement into your daily life so that you can rebuild that confidence in your body.

So you don’t have to think twice about joining your friends for a walk and picnic on a warm, sunny afternoon.

Do you or do you know someone who has Parkinson's Disease?

I'm running a 60 minute session - Moving Well with Parkinson's Disease on 17th June at 12pm. It will be online. You can register with the link in my bio

Last week didn’t go to plan

I didn’t get done what I wanted to. It was a busy week teaching and I didn’t feel like I had moved my business forward.

I got myself worked up because I felt that I had let myself down. Then before I know it the self doubt had crept in - am I capable of building a business?

Yesterday, I took time the time to rest and I realised one difficult week doesn’t define my future and what I’m capable of.

Just like a health diagnosis doesn’t define what your body is capable of.

Setbacks become damaging when they cause us to change our beliefs about ourselves.

If you are wanting tailored movement sessions to regain confidence in your body after a health diagnosis.
