Ashtanga has a bit of a reputation for not encouraging students to use props. At Ashtanga Yoga Hull that couldn't be further from the truth!
Both of my teachers have always encouraged the use of props as a way of getting into and understanding the pose better and as a way of working with the daily differences your body can throw at you!
Pictured is the prop aftermath from my practice this morning; belts, blocks, bricks, wall ropes and a meditation cushion.
If you come and practice Ashtanga with me, I will definitely be recommending props for you to use, if I think they will help you deepen your understanding of the postures.
